Environmental groups have similarly touted catch shares as a tool for communities and fishermen and overlooked the role investors can and do play.     OMG. I am so appalled by the vast majority of the comments on Slate. Who were their mothers? Why weren’t they spanked?

      The overwhelming majority of the people in this nation have no access to the seafood many of us take for granted. Fishermen are their only link to this pure form of protein. Every time you create another middleman their cost goes up.

      This resource is not nor ever has been considered “private property”. Fishermen are the conduit to the resource these less fortunate folks depend upon for their share of the pie.

      Not everyone can afford to purchase a vessel or hire a charter. This is another example of a government take over of the peoples resources. CONTROL THE FOOD….CONTROL THE PEOLE. Open your eyes
