UPDATED! Don’t whisper a word, but, a very, very interesting rumor is floating about!

We have received word from the guys out back in the shipping/receiving department of Fisherynation, that someone has supposedly resigned from the effective immediately and will be helping fishermen out through the Nature Conservancy! My most reliable contact on the inside wouldn’t budge. We have heard who it is, but until we see something “official” our lips are sealed. 16:35 UPDATED 18:42 Dempsey Resigns, Takes position with Nature Conservancy! I’m writing to tell you that I’ve accepted a new job and, for that reason, have resigned as a member of the New England Fishery Management Council. I’ll be working with The Nature Conservancy’s Sustainable Fisheries Initiative in California and look forward to continuing to work with fishermen to meet the many challenges that face our marine resources and the fishing industry.
In light of our soon to be expanding family, we’ll need to make the move west faster than we otherwise would have. I regret that I likely won’t have the chance to see many of you in person before I leave, but I trust our paths will continue to cross in the future. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from my years on the Council and appreciate the time and effort you all put into addressing the issues facing New England’s fisheries.
You can reach me in the future at this address: Thomas.D.Dempsey
Good luck to all of you.
    Best,
    -Tom
I won’t post his email address.

Guessing this is the new job? http://unjobs.org/vacancies/1402007403828

Guess TNC is looking to create Trust fund dollars? As long as they achieve their “desired outcomes…”

    From the link:

S/he will manage a well-experienced team, leading fishery reform engagements across the California, the west coast and making tangible contributions to international fishery projects. The Senior Fishery Project Director will work with this team to craft the reform strategies and project plans that will allow TNC and its partners to achieve their desired outcomes in that fishery. This will include consulting with industry, policy, community and other leaders. S/he will also be responsible for identifying and helping to secure key enabling conditions needed for each project’s success, such as new policy or funding. While there are currently staff leads for each of the program’s current fishery engagements, it’s highly likely that the Senior Fishery Project Director will be tasked with leading some portion of the program’s fishery projects while also overseeing and managing staff that lead other projects.
