US pollock fleet faces reduced chinook salmon bycatch shutdown level

US pollock catchers are set for more restrictive chinook salmon bycatch limits, after a unanimous vote on a motion during the North Pacific Fisheries Management Council (NPFMC) on Saturday. The decline in returns of chinook salmon since 2007 means a lowering of the cap was expected by the industry.
