Alleged shrimp boat bandit arrested in Houston, ran boat aground, damaged 2 others

After weeks, an arrest was finally made in the case of the Shrimp Boat Bandit. Able Antonio Martinez, 22, was arrested and charged with two felony warrants for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Criminal Mischief. On April 16, Port of Galveston Police officers responded to reports of a shrimp boat, which belonged to Alex Gutierrez, that was stolen while it was moored at Pier 19. Investigators discovered a man, now alleged to be Martinez, boarded the F/V Santana in slip 24W, backed out of the slip, and damaged two other vessels that were moored in the area.  Video, >click to read< 12:02

Myrtle Beach man charged after he climbed on fishing boat that washed ashore during Hurricane Ian

A Myrtle Beach man was charged after he was accused of climbing on a fishing boat that washed ashore during Hurricane Ian, according to Master Cpl. Tom Vest with the Myrtle Beach Police Department. Isaac Shaw, 50, of Myrtle Beach, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Police said Shaw climbed aboard the boat while it was tossing in the surf. >lick to read< 20:31

Superior Lobster and Seafood lost approximately $10,000 worth of lobsters after a Sandwich man turned off the compressor and oxygen supply to their tank of live seafood, Vaudo was arrested and charged with felony vandalism of property and illegal dumping. Bristol County Sheriff’s Dept. captain charged with smuggling in Rafael case

A captain with the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office was arrested and charged late Wednesday in connection with helping Carlos Rafael, the owner of one of the largest commercial fishing businesses in the U.S., smuggle the profits of his illegal overfishing scheme to Portugal, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said. James Melo, 45, of Dartmouth, was charged with one count each of bulk cash smuggling, structuring and conspiracy. He was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond following his appearance in federal court in Boston late this afternoon, authorities said in a news release. click here to read the story 10:37

Maine Skipper arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (a machete)

lydia and mayaThe captain of a vessel at the Boston Fish Pier was arrested Sunday morning after another person reported being held at knifepoint. Massachusetts State Police arrested Stephen A. Thuotte, 54, of Porter, Maine, the Captain of the vessel Lydia & Maya. Thuotte was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (a machete). Police say the victim is a 46-year-old man from Brunswick, Maine. The victim refused medical treatment. Both suspect and victim were on the vessel together. Thuotte will be arraigned Monday at South Boston District Court. No additional information regarding the incident were released. Link 06:44
