Coast Guard medevacs man from fishing vessel near Dutch Harbor, Alaska
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak aircrew, forward deployed to Cold Bay, medically evacuated a mariner from a fishing vessel near Dutch Harbor, Tuesday morning. The MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew hoisted the 47-year-old man from the 310-foot fishing vessel F/V Northern Eagle and transported him back to Cold Bay for a wing-to-wing transfer with LifeMed Alaska personnel. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard 17th District command center, in Juneau, received the initial request for the medevac Tuesday at 5:55 a.m. from the vessel’s crew that a fellow crew member had injured his right hand. >click to read< 20:52
Coast Guard Medevacs Man from Fishing Vessel 154 Miles East of Kodiak, Alaska
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced a crewman from the fishing vessel Cape Greig 154 miles east of Kodiak, Tuesday. The Jayhawk crew safely hoisted the ill crewman and transferred him to awaiting emergency medical personnel in Kodiak. Coast Guard District 17 Command Center watchstanders in Juneau received notification from Discovery Health Partners stating the 50-year-old crewman was experiencing symptoms of appendicitis. Coast Guard, Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington grant child’s wish in Kodiak, Alaska
Members from Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak and Make-A-Wish Alaska and Washington granted a child’s wish to be a rescue swimmer in Kodiak, Alaska, Friday and Saturday. Andrew Bishop, an 8-year-old boy from Woodland, Washington, was designated as an honorary rescue swimmer aboard the MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter after completing modified rescue swimmer pool training and basic air crewman training, Friday. Bishop was given a flight suit and reported for duty as a rescue swimmer, Saturday morning. During his first day of duty, he responded to a search and rescue case where he and the aircrew hoisted a hiker with simulated injuries. Bishop and the crew simulated CPR on the hiker and safely transported him to the air station. After the mission, he was met by members of various Coast Guard units and families and was presented an Air Medal for his work during the rescue. click here to read the story, and view more image’s. Coast Guard medevacs fisherman near Kodiak Island, Alaska
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced a fisherman from the fishing vessel Transit in Shelikof Strait near Kodiak Island Sunday morning. The 37-year-old fisherman was hoisted and transported to Kodiak where he was met by awaiting emergency medical services personnel. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Anchorage received a medevac request from the captain of the Transit who reported a crewmember was suffering from seizure like symptoms. The duty flight surgeon recommended the medevac and the helicopter crew was dispatched. Weather on scene during the time of the medevac was reported as 7-mph winds with choppy seas and 12-miles of visibility. Link 07:35
Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak medevaced an injured fisherman from F/V Beverly Ann 50 miles southeast of Seward Tuesday
Coast Guard 17th District watchstanders received the report via satellite telephone from a crewmember aboard the Beverly Ann stating the 22-year-old fisherman was struck in the head by deck equipment and needed medical assistance.
