Ironwood Ridge grad’s ‘Deadliest Catch’ work may earn him an Emmy

When storms in the Bering Sea bruise and batter the crab fishing boats from the popular Discovery series, “Deadliest Catch,” it’s Ironwood Ridge High School grad Nico Natale who makes sure the footage is broadcast ready. Natale has been on the production crew of the series since 2011. Today, he is an editor on the show, which celebrated its 17th season earlier this year. His work turning weather worn crews on boats with monikers like the Cornelia Marie and Northwestern into household names for viewers around the world has not gone unnoticed. On Sunday, Sept. 19, Natale and members of the team with which he edits are up for Primetime Emmy Awards in the category, “outstanding picture editing for an unstructured reality program.” >click to read< 09:53

‘Deadliest Catch’: Josh Harris and Casey McManus on the Cornelia Marie’s return in Season 14

Deadliest Catch fans, we have good news: When the Cornelia Marie sets out for king crab season at 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning (“You never leave on a Friday,” Capt. Josh Harris reminds us), there will be cameras on it. The fan-favorite boat was missing from Season 13 of Discovery’s Emmy-winning reality series, even though it remained an active part of the Bering Sea crab fleet last year.,,, The boat itself has also been through a major overhaul. “There’s a lot more buttons up here to push,” Josh says from the state-of-the-art wheelhouse. “I’m really excited to start pushing these buttons on the new machinery, the new electronics we’ve got, and hopefully I learn quick.” click here to read the story here 14:49

Deadliest Catch: The Quest to Coat Cornelia Marie – Picking Your Paint

Josh Harris and Casey McManus, a pair of 31-year-olds who respectively own and run the fishing boat Cornelia Marie – made famous on the Discovery Channel’s cable television show Deadliest Catch – discuss  their decision to protect the Cornelia Marie with Sherwin-Williams marine coatings. According to Harris, in the wake of his father’s death the process to purchase the boat was tough financially given the inflated value of the boat due to the long-running success of Deadliest Catch.  Read the rest here 08:23
