Captain Robert Lee Pash, Sr.

Captain Robert Lee “Bobby” Pash, 64, of Rockport, TX passed away on June 17th, 2020 surrounded by family after battling with the lung disease Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.  Bobby was born on January 20th, 1956 to Harry and Mildred (Armstrong) Pash in Freeport, IL. He moved with his family to Rockport-Fulton, TX at a young age, where he spent the remainder of his life. Bobby was a lifetime commercial fisherman and spent most of his days on the water shrimping and bait fishing. Fisherman dies getting pulled overboard off the coast of Eureka on Wednesday afternoon.

Redcrest resident and fisherman Melvin Richard Van Ronk died Wednesday afternoon after becoming entangled in fishing gear and being pulled overboard while fishing off the coast of Eureka, according to the Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. Van Ronk, 77, was fishing on the vessel “Ruth R” out of Eureka about 15 miles off the coast when he became entangled in the fishing gear, according to Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay Public Information Officer Audra Forteza. click here to read the story 22:23

With sadness – Conservationist Zeke Grader, advocate for fish, dies

Zeke Grader, a lifelong conservationist who loved wild fish, wild rivers and the good fight necessary to protect them, has died. He was 68. “You would probably not be eating a wild California salmon today if it were not for Zeke,” said his friend Tim Sloane, the executive director of the Pacific Coast Federation of Fishermen’s Associations. “He was not afraid of speaking truth to power. Well-known Newfoundland fisherman, Lorne Fudge, dies

A well-known fisherman who was fighting the provincial government for a right to receive money as part of a resettlement program has died. Tribal fishing activist Billy Frank Jr. dies

Billy Frank Jr., the tribal fisherman who led the Northwest “fish wars” that helped restore fishing rights for American Indians four decades ago, died Monday at age 83. The Northwest Indian Fisheries Commission and the Nisqually Tribe near Olympia confirmed his death. The cause was not immediately known. Read more here  18:22
