Drone Joins HM Coastguard Search and Rescue Team

The first operational drone flight will join manned helicopters, planes, boats, and cliff rescue teams on lifesaving missions at sea and over land in North Wales for the first time, this summer. The drone was initially tested a year ago and recently during a phase of operational integration training, the drone flew for the first time in formation alongside both the HM Coastguard S92 helicopter and HM Coastguard’s King Air surveillance aircraft. >click to read< 12:13

Drone adds modern twist to an age-old fishing method for fourth generation Eden fisherman

His great grandfather arrived in Eden in the mid 1800s, and each successive generation has entered the fishing industry — from trapping and beach fishing to pioneering the lucrative bluefin tuna fishery using pole and live bait, then later purse seine trawling using light aircraft for fish spotting. After a long career as a commercial fisherman, Mr Fourter has now returned to his childhood passion catching salmon and mullet off the beaches of Twofold Bay and the Eden coast using the traditional beach seine method. Aussie fishermen use drone to catch massive tuna

A pair of WA fishermen have come up with an “ingenious” and remarkably efficient way to nab a catch – all with the help of a drone. In a video uploaded to YouTube late last week Jaiden MacClean from Dunsborough and his mate Byron Leal load their drone up with a baited hook. At the other end of the line Mr Leal is waiting on shore with a fishing rod. Once a school of tuna is spotted, the drone drops the line in with pinpoint accuracy. Within seconds an enormous tuna takes the bait and Mr Leal reels in the prize catch. Watch video, read the rest here 09:22
