Large land-based salmon farms face opposition in Maine

“There’s a lot of things wrong with this project,” said neighbour Ellie Daniels. “But one of the major [problems] is water use, the discharge. Proposed salmon farm rattles some in Belfast. Another in Bucksport draws few objections.

Belfast and Bucksport are separated by just 24 miles, and both are closely connected to the Penobscot River and Penobscot Bay.
