Coast Guard medevacs man 230 miles north of Cold Bay, Alaska
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced a man Sunday morning from the 143-foot fishing vessel American No.1, 230 miles north of Cold Bay. The Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the man and safely transported him to Cold Bay where a LifeMed aircraft crew transported him to Anchorage for further medical care. Coast Guard District 17 command center watchstanders received notification from Health Force Partners reporting a 35-year-old male crewmember was suffering from abdominal pain and vomiting. The Coast Guard medevaced a 51-year-old man Monday from a fishing vessel 25 miles southeast of Murrells Inlet. Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders received a call at 3:45 p.m. from the crew of the Shooting Star, a 42-foot fishing vessel, stating a crewmember was experiencing chest pains. A Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched at 4:28 p.m. and arrived on scene at 5 p.m. The Dolphin crew hoisted the man and transported him to Georgetown Memorial Hospital. -USCG- 19:12
Coast Guard medevacs man from fishing vessel near Cold Bay, Alaska
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew forward deployed to Cold Bay, Alaska, medevaced a man Wednesday from the 154 -foot fishing vessel Defender 260 miles north of Cold Bay. The Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the man at 10:45 a.m. and safely transported him to St. Paul where he was transferred to commercial medical services. The Coast Guard medevaced an injured fisherman from a fishing vessel approximately eight miles south of Freeport, Texas, Tuesday morning . At 9:29 a.m., Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders overheard a report on Channel 16 of a crewmember aboard the fishing vessel Lady Tina who suffered a possible concussion and broken leg. A Station Freeport boatcrew arrived on scene at 10:40 a.m. and transported the injured man to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Coast Guard Station Freeport. Coast Guard medevacs 62-year-old man from vessel near Point Piedras
The Coast Guard medevaced a 62-year-old man from the fishing vessel Pamela Rose approximately eight nautical miles north of Point Piedras, Thursday morning. At approximately midnight, a good Samaritan contacted Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders reporting that the 54-foot fishing vessel Pamela Rose’s mast broke, which injured two crew members leaving one crew member unresponsive, and without a pulse. Watchstanders dispatched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter,, crew hoisted the man into the helicopter and transported him to Paso Robles Municipal Airport. Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach watchstanders dispatched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew from Coast Guard Station Morro Bay to tow the fishing vessel Pamela Rose into Morro Bay Harbor. Coast Guard medevacs injured fisherman 25 miles off Nantucket
The Coast Guard medevaced a seriously injured fisherman Saturday from a boat 25 miles east of Nantucket, Massachusetts. A man aboard the fishing vessel Hera contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England Saturday evening and reported another crewman suffered a head laceration, and was in immediate need of professional medical care. A helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod deployed to medevac the man, and flew him to Massachusetts General Hospital where his care was transferred to medical personnel. –USCG– 08:26
Coast Guard medevaced fisherman suffering possible heart attack off Reedsport, Ore.
Coast Guard crews medevaced a man suffering from symptoms of a possible heart attack from a fishing vessel 18 miles off Reedsport, Friday night. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Bend were contacted around 8 p.m. by the fishing vessel Leann crew. The crew reported one of their deckhands was suffering a possible heart attack and requested assistance, the Coast Guard boat crew and aircrew launched in response. The aircrew lowered their rescue swimmer onto the fishing vessel and then both swimmer and deckhand transferred to the motor life boat. Once transferred to EMS personnel on shore, the deckhand was taken to Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay. -USCG- 15:37

The Coast Guard medevaced an injured fisherman in Pamlico Sound, North Carolina, Thursday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina in Wilmington received a call on VHF-FM channel 16 at about 5:55 p.m., reporting that a 53-year-old deckhand aboard the 83-foot fishing vessel Chasity Brooke injured his hand about 10 miles east of Hobucken, North Carolina. Sector North Carolina watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a Coast Guard 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water boat crew from Station Hobucken to assist. –USCG–
Coast Guard medevacs man from fishing vessel near Cold Bay, Alaska
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced a crewman from the fishing vessel Unimak, a 183-foot fishing trawler, near Cold Bay, Alaska, Friday. The Jayhawk crew safely hoisted the ill crewman from the Unimak, which was 46 miles northwest of Cold Bay, at 8:52 p.m. and transported him to emergency medical personnel at the Cold Bay Clinic at approximately 9 p.m. Coast Guard District 17 Command Center watchstanders in Juneau received notification from Health Force Partners stating a Unimak crewman had symptoms of dizziness and weakness, along with general confusion. Coast Guard medevacs fisherman off Hampton Harbor, NH
A Coast Guard Station Merrimack River boat crew medevaced a fisherman Friday evening, 6 miles east of Hampton Harbor, New Hampshire. A crewmember aboard the fishing boat Patricia Lynn radioed the Coast Guard for assistance at around 6:45 p.m., stating another crewmember was experiencing symptoms characteristic of a heart attack. A Coast Guard Station Merrimack River 29-foot rescue boat crew heard the call while underway in the area and diverted to assist. The Coast Guard crew took the 30-year-old-man on their boat and brought him to Hampton Harbor State Pier where emergency medical services personnel were waiting. –USCG– 08:13
Coast Guard medevacs 43-year-old fisherman 25-miles south of Shinnecock Inlet
The Coast Guard medevaced a 43-year-old man from a fishing vessel 25-miles south of Shinnecock Inlet, New York, Tuesday. Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound watchstanders received a notification at 1:50 a.m., of a crewmember aboard a fishing vessel (F/V Ashton Matthew) who was suffering from shortness of breath and tightening in his chest. A Coast Guard Station Shinnecock 47-foot Motor Life Boat (MLB) crew got underway at 2:30 a.m., and arrived on scene less than an hour later. Members of the boat crew brought the 43-year-old man from the fishing vessel aboard the Coast Guard MLB, then transported him to Station Shinnecock where he was then safely transferred to a local EMS crew. -USCG-18:11
Coast Guard medevacs injured fisherman near Martha’s Vineyard
A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod crew medevaced an injured fisherman Saturday afternoon from Muskeget Channel between Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. At around 1:30 p.m. the 75-foot fishing vessel Perception notified Coast Guard watchstanders that a crewmember had fallen and sustained injuries and was in need of medical attention. An Air Station Cape Cod MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter was already in the air and diverted to assist. The aircrew arrived on scene and hoisted the fisherman off Perception at around 2:15 p.m. They then flew to Hyannis Airport and transferred the patient to awaiting Emergency Medical Services personnel at around 2:45 p.m. The fisherman was then brought to Cape Cod Hospital for further care. -USCG- click for video 21:43
Coast Guard medevacs man from fishing vessel 152 miles north of Dutch Harbor, Alaska
An aviation detachment crew deployed aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Sherman medevaced a 33-year-old man from a fishing vessel Thursday morning approximately 152 miles north of Dutch Harbor. Watchstanders at the 17th Coast Guard District command center received a request from Health Force Partners that a crewman aboard the Island Enterprise suffered a severe injury to his index finger. The Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended a medevac after consultation with HFP deemed the injury as potentially limb threatening. An AVDET MH-65 Dolphin crew hoisted the man safely and transported him to EMS in Dutch Harbor. Weather on scene was 34.5-mph winds, 8 to 10-foot seas and 11.5 miles visibility. -USCG- 23:08

A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced a 58-year-old man with an ankle injury from a fishing vessel in the vicinity of Shelikof Strait, Alaska, Sunday. The Jayhawk crew safely hoisted the man and transported him to awaiting EMS personnel in Kodiak. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Anchorage command center received a medevac request from the New Dawn crew for a crewmember with a broken ankle. Coast Guard medevacs fisherman 145 miles east of Cape Cod
A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod aircrew medevaced an ill fisherman Saturday evening from 145 miles off the coast of Cape Cod. At around 7:30 p.m., the captain of the 78-foot fishing vessel Little Tootie notified the First District command center that one of his crewmembers was having respiratory troubles. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched and arrived on scene at around 10:30 p.m. Once on scene, the crew hoisted the fisherman to the helicopter. The fisherman was then flown to Air Station Cape Cod where emergency medical services personnel were waiting to transport the 44-year-old man to Falmouth Hospital. Coast Guard medevacs injured fisherman 86 miles east of Cape Cod
A Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod aircrew medevaced an injured fisherman Thursday evening from 86 miles off the coast of Cape Cod. At around 5 p.m., the captain of the 75-foot fishing vessel Destiny notified First District command center watchstanders that one of his crewmembers had fallen and sustained injuries to his hand and ribs. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched and arrived on scene at around 8 p.m. Once on scene, the crew used a basket to hoist the fisherman to the helicopter. The fisherman was then flown to Air Station Cape Cod where emergency medical services personnel were waiting to transport the 54-year-old man to Falmouth Hospital. UPDATED: Coast Guard conducts medevac 65 miles south of Montauk, N.Y.
A Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter crew medically evacuated a 47-year-old man 65 miles south of Montauk, N.Y., Friday. At 8:25 a.m., the fishing vessel Braedon Michael notified Coast Guard Station Montauk, who then relayed to Sector Long Island Sound, of a crewmember aboard who was experiencing flu like symptoms and was in and out of consciousness. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter launched from Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, at 9:50 a.m., and arrived on scene approximately an hour later. The crewmember was safely hoisted from the deck of the Braedon Michael and transported to Air Station Cape Cod, where local Emergency Medical Services were waiting. The Coast Guard medevacked a fisherman Tuesday from a commercial fishing boat 38 miles west of Egmont Key. At 6:10 p.m. watch standers from Sector St. Petersburg received a VHF-FM marine band radio call from the captain of the commercial fishing vessel Miss Brianna, stating he suffered an injury to his leg and was in need of emergency medical attention. Coast Guard medevacs skipper from fishing boat in the Gulf
The Coast Guard medevacked a 29-year-old man Friday from a 72-foot commercial fishing vessel 23 miles southwest of Sanibel. At 4:30 a.m. watch standers from Sector St. Petersburg received a VHF-FM marine band radio call from the captain of the commercial fishing vessel Sea Explorer, stating he was experiencing chest pains and was in need of emergency medical attention. A flight surgeon was notified and recommended the man be medevacked. An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater and a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew from Station Fort Myers Beach were launched and the area’s Marine Emergency Response Team was activated. At 5:31 a.m. the Coast Guard boat crew arrived on scene with Lee County EMS aboard. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew forward deployed in Cold Bay, medevaced a man from the fishing vessel American Dynasty approximately 60 nautical miles north of Cold Bay, Thursday afternoon. The 59-year-old fisherman was hoisted and transported to Cold Bay where he was met by Guardian Flight personnel for further transfer to Anchorage. Watchstanders at Coast Guard District Seventeen received notification from Health Force Partners requesting a medevac for a crewmember aboard the American Dynasty who was suffering from symptoms of appendicitis. The duty flight surgeon recommended the medevac and the helicopter crew was dispatched. Video – Coast Guard aircrew hoists injured man from fishing boat 25 miles off Cape Ann
A helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod hoisted an injured fisherman Saturday from a fishing boat 25 miles southeast of Cape Ann. The captain of Golden Girl contacted Coast Guard Sector Boston watchstanders Saturday morning and reported a crewman aboard severely injured his hand and needed medical attention. The aircrew launched and arrived on scene at about 12:20 p.m. to medevac the man. After a successful hoist, the man was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital. Helicopter pilot Lt. Kyle Bertoluzzi said despite a low ceiling at takeoff, the skies cleared about halfway over Cape Cod Bay. He said the quick action of Golden’s Girl’s crew, flawless work by the flight mechanic, and teamwork by all helped this medevac go smoothly to get the injured man quickly into the care of doctors. The Coast Guard medevaced a 28-year-old male aboard the fishing vessel Captain David 40 nautical miles southeast of Venice, Louisiana, Saturday. The Eighth Coast Guard District watchstanders received a report at 3:16 p.m. that Andrew Carl had been suffering from seasickness and had become unresponsive. Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector New Orleans were notified and launched a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin aircrew at 4:26 p.m. The MH-65 aircrew arrived on scene at 5:22 p.m. and transported Carl to Louisiana State University Hospital in New Orleans at 7:46 p.m. He was reported in stable condition but still unresponsive. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced a fisherman from the fishing vessel Transit in Shelikof Strait near Kodiak Island Sunday morning. The 37-year-old fisherman was hoisted and transported to Kodiak where he was met by awaiting emergency medical services personnel. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Anchorage received a medevac request from the captain of the Transit who reported a crewmember was suffering from seizure like symptoms. The duty flight surgeon recommended the medevac and the helicopter crew was dispatched. Coast Guard medevacs injured fisherman in Pybus Bay, Alaska
A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced an injured mariner off the fishing vessel Vendor in Pybus Bay, near Fredrick Sound, approximately 80 miles south of Juneau, Wednesday. The Jayhawk crew hoisted the 37-year-old man and transported him to awaiting emergency medical personnel in Sitka. Coast Guard Sector Juneau watchstanders responded to a mayday call from the mariner on VHF channel 16. The mariner requested assistance after reportedly suffering from a leg laceration. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon and requested the launch of the Air Station Sitka Jayhawk and a Station Juneau Response Boat-Medium. “Having communication and safety devices on board your vessel is critical in Alaskan waters,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Francell Abbott, Sector Juneau watchstander. “Having a VHF radio allowed this mariner to call for help and allowed our crew to quickly get him to EMS.” Weather on scene was 12-mph winds, 1-foot seas. Coast Guard conducts medevac from fishing vessel off Oahu
The Coast Guard medevaced the master of the 70-foot fishing vessel Lady J3 about 41 miles north of Oahu Saturday morning. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Barbers Point safely medevaced the 36-year-old man to Queens Medical Center in Honolulu for treatment. He was reportedly suffering from swelling to his lower extremities and was unable to stand. Coast Guard watchstanders at Joint Rescue Communications Center Honolulu received a request for the medevac from the NOAA Fisheries observer aboard the Lady J3 mid-morning Friday. The vessel was 176 miles north of Kauai at the time, heading toward Oahu and maintained a six-hour communications schedule with Coast Guard Sector Honolulu watchstanders. By the evening the master’s condition had deteriorated and he was having trouble breathing. At the recommendation of the Coast Guard flight surgeon the vessel continued to make best course and speed toward Oahu to close the distance and bring them into range of the Coast Guard Dolphin crew. The medevac was conducted at first light to bring the master to a higher level of medical care. Coast Guard medevacs man near Houma
The Coast Guard medevaced a man from the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 23 miles south of Houma, Louisiana, Sunday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a request 1:50 p.m. from the fishing vessel Michael II for a medevac of a 60-year-old Vietnamese deckhand who was experiencing stroke-like symptoms. Sector New Orleans directed the launch of an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to assist the man. Coast Guard medevacs fisherman suffering from seizures, 100 miles off Galveston
A 38-year-old man was medevaced by a Coast Guard helicopter Sunday, after reports of seizures on a fishing vessel about 100 miles southeast of Galveston, Texas. The crew of the fishing vessel Black Jack IV contacted Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders on VHF marine band radio channel 16 at about 6:30 p.m., to report that the man was having seizure like symptoms and needed assistance. The watchstanders launched an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew to medevac the man and an Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew to provide communications and safety support so far offshore. The helicopter crew hoisted the man, had to stop and refuel on a rig in the gulf and then delivered him to Galveston’s Scholes International Airport, where EMS was standing by to take him to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. The Coast Guard medevaced a man Monday off a fishing vessel near Hobucken. Station Hobucken watchstanders were notified at approximately 1 a.m. Monday that the captain of the fishing vessel Master Joseph, homeported out of Bayboro, was reportedly disoriented and had temporarily lost consciousness. A Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Station Hobucken launched at approximately 1:30 a.m. and arrived on scene at approximately 2 a.m. The crew medevaced and transferred the captain back to R.E. Mayo Seafood in Hobucken, where EMS personnel took him to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern. Link 12:02
Coast Guard medevacs fisherman off commercial fishing vessel near Manzanita, Ore.
The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of a man experiencing chest pains 20 miles off the Manzanita coast on a commercial fishing vessel Friday morning. The 59-year old man was alert and responsive when he was transferred to Warrenton emergency medical services at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River in Warrenton by an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew. Sector Columbia River Command Center received a VHF-FM radio call from the captain of the commercial fishing vessel Karen, homeported in Tillamook, requesting medical help for a crewmember. The aircrew launched at 10:44 a.m., and returned to base for the transfer at 12:16 p.m. The man was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital by EMS. Link 08:55

The Coast Guard medevaced a 26-year-old fisherman from the 79-foot fishing vessel Pacific Star approximately 74 miles southeast of the city of Kodiak, Alaska, Saturday. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted the injured fisherman and transported him to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at the Kodiak Airport. Coast Guard Sector Anchorage watchstanders received the call for assistance at approximately 11:03 a.m. from the operator of the Pacific Star that a deckhand had been struck in the head by deck rigging and needed medical attention.
