Environmentalists face off against environmentalists over offshore wind projects
The Energy Department estimates offshore wind turbines could produce as much as 20% of regional power needs along the densely populated Eastern Seaboard from Florida to Maine by 2050. To reach that goal, the Biden administration had hoped to green-light 30 gigawatts from utility-scale offshore wind farms by 2030—enough to power nine million homes. That now seems wildly ambitious, as billions of dollars in projects have been canceled amid staggering cost overruns, soaring interest rates and supply-chain delays. Added to these economic woes are persistent environmental concerns, as attested to by some recent federal lawsuits. Murphy’s wind turbine project could be stopped by little ole Ocean City, N.J.
Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican or independent, you have to know Phil Murphy is as slick and slippery as they come. Rather than go through the Legislature for approval of his climate cult schemes, he does it through the regulatory process. This way you have no say in the matter. It just gets rammed through by way of the BPU or the DEP. They’re made up of unelected bureaucrats appointed by the governor. Thomas L. Brower Sr. of Brick, N.J., has passed away
Thomas Lee Brower Sr., age 64, passed away on August 23, 2022. He was born on February 2, 1958 in Point Pleasant NJ and lived his whole life in Brick, NJ. He started his career as a mate on the party boat the Piper in Point Pleasant, NJ. He moved on to clamming boats till one day he bought the Viking Star in 1984 and started his own fishing business. He bought the Fishing Vessel Kristin which was so successful he was able to grow the business and owned the Jessica Lynn, Elvie B, Ida B, Jamie Elizabeth, and the McGinty. He was a member of the Point Pleasant Fisherman CoOp. Being out at sea was his joy in life. >click to read< 20:40
Rory Rodger Ahern, Jr., Greenfield, N.J. Scallop Fisherman has passed away
After years of struggling with mental health and substance use, Rory (Rodger) Ahern lost his battle at 29 years old. While his illness often took the forefront of conversations, we want to remember him as the dynamic and hysterical young man that he was while on this earth. His passion for fishing began at three years old and filled him with immense joy throughout his life. His last few months working as a commercial scallop fisherman on The Atlantic Warrior brought him the most happiness he’s experienced in years, thanks to a kind and supportive group of fishermen who encouraged him to set goals and envision a bright future. The people are Opposed to Offshore Wind in Cape May, N.J. – Anti Offshore Wind Farm protestors gather
They could not all go in to the meeting of the Cape May County Commissioners on Tuesday afternoon, but opponents of a planned offshore wind farm knew they were heard when the members of county government came out to them. Coast Guard searching for Edward Broderick, missing fisherman near Highlands, N.J.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New York, in Staten Island, N.Y., received a call from Ray Phillips, reporting that his friend Edward Broderick had been missing since approximately 10 p.m., Saturday. Phillips last heard from Broderick at approximately 6 p.m., stating that his vessel was en route to a clamming facility in Highlands. more@uscgnews 18:29
N.J. fishing industry works to recover from Sandy-POINT PLEASANT BEACH, N.J.
Commercial fisherman Jim Lovgren has navigated some rough seas lately. 
First, his 70-foot trawler, Viking II, swamped in high waves and sank 80 miles off Cape May in late September.
Then, on Oct. 22, Sandy took a dramatic swipe at the Fisherman’s Dock Cooperative, where Lovgren is a director and about a dozen third- and fourth-generation fishermen bring their catch to be sold at markets throughout the country. http://www.philly.com/philly/news/20121120_N_J__fishing_industry_works_to_recover_from_Sandy.html
