What About Carlos Rafael, His Permits and His Boats? [OPINION]

There has been little public talk about “The Codfather” and his fishing empire since he was sentenced to federal prison for crimes related to fishing. In September of 2017, Judge William Young sentenced Carlos “The Codfather” Rafael to 46 months in federal prison. Additionally, Judge Young fined him $200,000 and three years supervised probation after his release from prison.,,, hearing rumors that two big players have emerged as the buyers of the boats and the all-important federal permits. Lower Township man gets 38 years in murder try on boat

A Lower Township man was sentenced to 38 years in prison Thursday in the 2015 attempted murder of a woman on a boat, according to the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office. Ernest P. Davis was convicted in June of attempted murder and aggravated assault of 39-year-old Dorris Howell, of Middle Township’s Whitesboro section. Davis also was convicted of possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose and hindering his own prosecution, according to the Prosecutor’s Office. Chiropractor/ Vessel Owner Get’s Prison Time for botched scuttling of F/V Alexander II

Tran was sentenced last week to nearly four years in a federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to destroy a vessel. Tran, a chiropractor, was “very much embarrassed and ashamed about what happened,” his lawyer, Earl Kauffman, told the Star-Ledger when reached by phone.A major hole in the plan was that the crew just couldn’t sink the Alexander II.
