VIDEO RELEASE: Coast Guard rescues 2 after vessel sinks 34 miles offshore Charleston

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah helicopter crew rescued two men, Tuesday, after their 30-foot fishing vessel capsized 34 miles offshore of Charleston. Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center watchstanders received a mayday call at 10:30 p.m., via VHF-FM channel 16 from a crew member aboard the fishing vessel stating their vessel was sinking. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Charleston boat crew and an Air Station Savannah helicopter crew to assist.  Utilizing direction finding technology to triangulate the last known position, watchstanders were able to identify the vessel’s approximate location. Coast Guard rescues 2 from vessel on fire, taking on water 9 miles off Bulls Bay

A Coast Guard Station Charleston rescue crew saved two people after their fishing vessel caught fire and began taking on water approximately 9 miles east of Bulls Bay, Friday. The captain of the vessel, F/V Strictly Business, hailed Sector Charleston watchstanders via marine radio Channel 16 at 4:03 a.m., stating his 45-foot fishing vessel was on fire and taking on water. Doing everything right to save their own lives! Coast Guard rescues 2 from boat fire near Cape Lookout, N.C.

The Coast Guard rescued two people after their 35-foot fishing boat caught fire and began to take on water approximately 15 miles southeast of Cape Lookout, Thursday morning. Coast Guard Sector North Carolina command center received a mayday call from a person aboard the 35-foot fishing boat Double G stating there was a fire onboard and they were taking on water. “The mariners did everything right to save their own lives by using the correct lifesaving equipment available to them, to include their VHF radio, life jackets, life raft, EPIRB, and strobe lights. Coast Guard rescues 2 people from fishing vessel taking on water

The Coast Guard rescued two people from their vessel near Venice, Louisiana, Wednesday. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a notification at 7:25 p.m. of two people aboard the fishing vessel Lady B as it was taking on water. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew and a Coast Guard Station Venice 24-foot Special Purpose Craft boatcrew at 7:36 p.m. The aircrew arrived on scene at 8:43 p.m. and safely hoisted the two people from the submerging vessel and transported them back to Air Station New Orleans.
