Three Fishermen Rescued as Commercial Vessel Sinks Off Hampton Bays

Three commercial fishermen were rescued from the waters off Hampton Bays on Thursday afternoon after the 41-foot trawler they were aboard began rapidly taking on water and sank. According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the fishing vessel Kary Ann sent out a mayday call about noon on Thursday from about one mile south of Shinnecock Inlet. Commercial fishermen accused of raiding fellow fisherman’s lobster traps in the Keys

Three commercial fishermen were arrested this week after being accused of raiding another commercial angler’s traps and stealing at least one spiny lobster. Their arrest Tuesday came five days after plainclothes Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers said they observed them from land checking the other boat’s traps off Long Key and taking one lobster. Aniel Sanfiel Vallalonga De La Fe, 51, from Miami, Ricardo Daiz De La Cruz, 32, from Boca Raton, and Yumar Gonzalez Ruiz, 49, from Homestead, each face two counts each of felony trap tampering and one count each of theft of the contents of another harvester’s traps, a second-degree misdemeanor. >click to read< 10:32

Three Commercial Fishermen rescued from life raft off the NSW south coast

Three men have been rescued after their fishing trawler took on water and sank off the NSW South Coast today. About 7.30am, emergency services were called to Bass Point, Shellharbour, following reports a boat was sinking. The 22-metre commercial fishing trawler came into trouble when it hit rough seas about 15 nautical miles east of Bass Point. Emergency rescue crews had arrived within an hour from the time the men sent out an emergency signal. All three were found to be suffering mild hypothermia but were otherwise unharmed. >Video, click to read< 11:22
