Alaska native Amy Majors, who was born into a fishing family in Ketchikan, wants to prove to the world and the crabbing industry that she’s tough enough to trawl for hard-shelled gold in the most dangerous icy waters on Earth. “Fishing is in my blood, and I’ve been doing this kind of thing my whole life. But crabbing on the Bering sea is different — far wilder and more dangous than anything I’d ever done before,” says Majors, whose seafaring father took her aboard his commercial fishing boat when she was just 12 hours old.
