World first Anglesey underwater energy ‘sea kite’ project in licence bid

_90432481_deepgreenSwedish-based Minesto has applied to fix its underwater energy ‘kites’ in the sea off Holyhead on Anglesey. It is part of plans for a 10MW underwater power plant, supplying the power needs of about 8,000 households. Developers said it would be the first full-scale operation of its kind in the world, following quarter-scale ocean testing off Northern Ireland. The technology uses tidal currents to force water through a turbine as the underwater kites “fly” through the sea. Read the rest here 11:39

Don’t these geniuses understand or care that electricity and water DO NOT MIX!—no matter how the generators are powered!
All aquatic life is extremely sensitive to electrical fields. These “brilliant clean energy innovations” will screw up the ocean and all that’s in it and on it.
    (See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electroreception, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passive_electrolocation_in_fish,)

Fish use their electronic sensors to navigate, communicate, and locate food and each other. They can pick up on miniscule charges given off from other aqautic animals. Can you imagine the mayhem for the fish that the megawatt electronic fields will create coming off of the generators and trunk lines?

And how many more restricted areas will fishermen be prohibited from “trespassing” upon?

This engineering brilliance is slated for Holyhead, Wales which is apparently also a major Irish port. http://www.holyhead.com/fishingtrawlers/

and water DO NOT MIX!—no matter how the generators are powered! Don’t they have enough brain power to get that nothing really exists in their computer assisted design programs? Can’t they grasp that their contraptions will have to exist in a real context like “the ocean” with its many occupants that have been established there long before these oh-so-eco-brilliant and cute (in a corporate way) little “sea-kites” appeared on their CAD LED screens?

It seems aquatic life is extremely sensitive to electrical fields. These “brilliant clean energy innovations” will screw up the ocean and all that’s in it and on it.

Now, I’m all for clean energy and getting out from under the rule of the despotic oil barons! Think solar, geo-thermal, algae based
biodiesel, artificial photosynthesis, and several other promising technologies that are withering on the vine for lack of funding, while the government pours billions into these wind and wave scams. There are technologies that are out there that might actually work and not destroy a vital food source!

But Hey, brilliant eco-engineer innovators, stay out of the ocean with these wind/wave turbines, oil rigs, and minerals mining contraptions, and Microsoft Marine Data Server Centers!
It’s already occupied! No, not owned by fishermen, we don’t own the ocean either; but by a universe of creatures that have been there since the beginning!

Hey Dicky! Your comment showed up at the post! Its always something!
I am with you on the Ocean Occupy Take over.
It seems every Rube Goldberg idea is legit, no matter how destructive it is.
