Whitehouse asks Narragansett fisherman to join him at State of the Union

U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse’s guest of honor at the State of the Union Tuesday will be a Narragansett fisherman with four decades fishing out of Point Judith. Whitehouse on Saturday announced his choice to join him Tuesday night in Washington as Chris Brown, president of the Rhode Island Commercial Fishermen’s Association. In a news release, Whitehouse said his pick comes weeks after President Donald Trump moved to expand oil and gas drilling off the Atlantic Coast — a move that the senator says will imperil the Rhode Island commercial fishing industry and its coastal economy. >click here to read<15:28

I am proud to have Chris Brown, a terrific leader in Rhode Island’s fishing community, by my side for the State of the Union,” Whitehouse, a Rhode Island Democrat who has sponsored legislation to enhance ocean protections, said in a news release.
First of all, Chris Brown is not a leader of the RI fishing community. On the contrary, his decisions over the years to side with the environmentalist lobby, who have done more harm to the fishermen of New England has made him one of if not the most despised sell outs of our time. If this were another time he would have been tarred and feathered long ago. In many of his claims he has said he received all of his knowledge from his Grandfather. These claims are an out and out lie. His knowledge comes from his estranged step father who was a fisherman all of his life. His Grandfather was a chemist by trade who later in life went in with his daughters husband (Chris’s stepfather) on the purchase of a fishing vessel, The Lucy M, and worked as a deck hand with his son in law. The knowledge Chris has, comes from a fisherman not a chemist. How do I know this? His mom is my first cousin who I absolutely adore. His Grandfather was my uncle. There is so much more to this that I will not go into it.
As for Mr. Whitehouse and his claim to be a champion for the fishing community I say this. You supported the Block Island windfarm which has created a host of problems for RI fishermen. Mainly the cable that runs through our fishing grounds that has caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to fishermen’s nets and other gear. Fishermen were assured there would be “no problems” once this cable was installed. I myself have suffered thousands of dollars in losses to this monstrosity. These promises ring hollow as we always assumed.

CB and his band of grant scammers are total sellouts to their fellow fishermen. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Chris Brown has a long history of going against what is good for RI fishermen Mr. Brown has the ability to do good for his fellow fishermen the problem is there is no good in MR Brown. I’ve known him for over 35 years and the hole time he has been in the middle of some sort of controversy with his fellow fishermen. What I’ve witnessed over all these year is that MR Browns ego and narcissism has blinded him from reality he is a champion of Catch Shares and still defends them after all the harm they have caused I guess 500,000 dollars from EDF in the last two years had something to do with that and his unholy alliance with MR Whitehouse and other political hacks has supplemented his in come at the expense of his fellow fishermen when will it stop and the handful of traders that aliened them self’s with him should be driver out of the industry .

“Mr. Brown has the ability to do good for his fellow fishermen”

Indeed he does. I’ve wracked my brain trying to understand why he has turned his back on those in his profession and those in his community. The answer hit me today.
We have nothing to offer him to inflate his ego. No way to get grants or any other self promotion. It means more to these type of people to be seen as power brokers and rubbing elbows with the likes of the enviro crowd and the swamp predators of DC. He has turned his back on all but the few RI. fishermen he has flim flamed. Their street cred is done for not seeing through this sham. His wildly exaggerated claims that have been put into print over the years have gone unchallenged. That’s over. Tell untruth’s at your own risk.
You would think those involved in the National group that has for some reason chosen him as their leader would have done some better homework in vetting their President. It’s no secret about his delusional rantings and how such a powerful group could not have known. One has to wonder what other shortcomings this group has.
Beware of those who speak with the golden forked tongue.
The pendulum swings one way for only so long then goes the other way. Soon enough this turn in the swinging pendulum will come.
