North Carolina commercial fishermen landed less seafood last year

In 2020, 42.9 million pounds of fish and shellfish were sold, a decrease of 19% from 2019 and about a 23% decrease from the previous five-year average, according to the Division of Marine Fisheries. The decrease in commercial harvest was linked to a 41.3% decrease in hard blue crab landings from 2019, which may be related to COVID-19 impacts. Maine’s 2017 commercial fishing landings are fourth highest ever

Maine commercial fishermen once again landed more than a half-billion dollars worth of marine resources in 2017.
