Search for Missing Fisherman Off San Diego Coast Hampered Due to Storm: USCG

An incoming storm forced the United States Coast Guard (USCG) to suspend its search for a fisherman reported missing off the coast of San Diego two days ago. Sunday afternoon, USCG San Diego received reports that the 42-foot commercial fishing vessel “Defiance” was adrift and unmanned roughly 19 miles west of Point Loma. The Defiance was found around 4:30 p.m. Sunday by a friend of the missing fisherman, according to PO1 Adam Stanton, a spokesperson for USCG San Diego. Coast Guard search for missing fisherman off Seal and Sunset Beaches has been suspended

A 35-year-old crew member of the Sea Queen II, a 100 foot commercial fishing vessel, went missing Saturday. The U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies were searching for the man, described as Asian and wearing a red sweatshirt and black sweatpants, in the ocean waters off of Sunset and Seal Beaches. Coast Guard suspends search for commercial fisherman who went overboard off Montauk

The Coast Guard suspended the search Sunday afternoon for a missing fisherman who went overboard 16 nautical miles south of Montauk Point, New York, Saturday. Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound watchstanders received the initial radio distress call via VHF Channel 16 at 11:20 p.m. from the commercial fishing vessel F/V Hope and Sydney, reporting that crew member Carl Whitney, 32, had gone overboard. Tugboat, armed forces aircraft contributing to search for missing fisherman and F/V Sarah Anne

Several private companies and the Canadian Armed Forces have joined the search for a fishing vessel that went missing off the coast of St. Lawrence last week after the Canadian Coast Guard concluded its search Wednesday. R.J.G. Construction has partnered with marine surveying company Fugro GeoSurveys to find the Sarah Anne, as well as the lone missing crew member, Issac Kettle. For Andrew Perrot, the company’s vessel manager and a St. Lawrence native, the mission is personal. The company’s tugboat MV Keewatin is currently being outfitted with a winch and sonar and Perrot said he’s hoping to have it in the water and ready to go by Monday evening or Tuesday morning. >click to read< 18:17

Body found in search for missing fisherman off Wexford coast

It is believed a body has been found in the search for missing fisherman William “Willie” Whelan off the Wexford coast. Mr Whelan, 41, from Saltmills, Co Wexford, disappeared when his trawler, the Alize,,, A second fisherman – Joe Sinnott, 65, from Kilmore Quay – died in hospital after being rescued and was laid to rest last week. The Coast Guard suspended its search Tuesday for a missing fisherman who reportedly went overboard 300 miles east of Cape Canaveral. Missing is Russell Minor.
