Search underway off Cape Sable Island, N.S. for fisherman who went overboard

A search is underway in the waters off Nova Scotia for a missing fisherman who went overboard on Boxing Day morning. A Facebook post from the Atlantic Canada Fishermen’s Association said the fisherman on the vessel “Little Weasel” went overboard in the early morning hours off Cape Sable Island, and that local crews have been “searching tirelessly for hours in hopes of locating him safely.” >click to read<

Coast Guard search underway after radio beacon alert and debris found off Wilmington, North Carolina

The Coast Guard is searching for a possible missing vessel after being alerted by an unregistered emergency position indicating radio beacon and finding debris approximately 126 miles southeast of Wilmington, Tuesday morning. The Coast Guard has not officially identified any of the crewmembers. The crew placed a mayday call around 10 p.m. Tuesday, the Coast Guard said. McKenzie said she didn’t know what time the two crew members were found, or what their condition is. McKenzie said investigators don’t know what might have caused the ship to sink. Efforts right now are focused on finding the remaining five fishermen, then an investigation will launch into what caused the vessel to sink. Search underway for 2 missing fishermen off Tignish, P.E.I.

A search is underway for two people missing from a boat that capsized late Tuesday afternoon in Tignish, P.E.I. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax is co-ordinating the search. “At approximately 5 o’clock local time, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre here in Halifax received a report of two people in the water near Tignish, P.E.I.” said Maj. Search underway for crew of capsized tuna fishing boat off Palau

A search is underway for two Japanese and five Indonesian crew members after their fishing ship was found capsized about 400 kilometers (250 miles) from the Pacific island of Palau. Planes and ships from the U.S., Japan and Palau are taking part in the search for the Japanese-flagged Gyotoku Maru No. 1, the U.S. Coast Guard said Wednesday.
