BOSTON — The Coast Guard suspended the active search for four missing fishermen off the coast of Massachusetts, 5:22 p.m., Tuesday. “The decision to suspend a search is never an easy one. Our crews conducted searches continuously for over 38 hours covering an area of approximately 2066 square miles,” said Capt. The Coast Guard suspended its search on Thursday after an unregistered emergency position indicating radio beacon alert lead responders to debris approximately 126 miles southeast off the coast of Wilmington, North Carolina. Coast Guard suspends search for two missing fishermen in Pamlico Sound

The Coast Guard suspended its search Thursday afternoon for two fishermen who were reported missing after the commercial fishing vessel Papa’s Girl capsized in the vicinity of the Pamlico Sound. After the sinking of the F/V Scandies Rose, an aftermath of anguish

Before Alaska crabber Brock Rainey headed out to start a new season, he checked in with his longtime friend Mike Daily. This winter was no different. “Tossing lines for the Bering Sea today…Love you brother,” Rainey texted in the hours before the boat he crewed on, the Scandies Rose, left Kodiak on Monday. The 130-foot vessel never reached its next port. F/V Scandies Rose: Coast Guard suspends search, Releases names of five missing fishermen and two survivors

The Coast Guard suspended its search Wednesday at 6:08 p.m. for five missing fishermen in the waters near Sutwik Island, Alaska. The five missing are:
Gary Cobban, Jr. (Master), David Lee Cobban, Arthur Ganacias, Brock Rainey, and Seth Rousseau-Gano.  The two survivors are Dean Gribble Jr., and John Lawler. The search spanned over 20 hours, 1,400 square miles and included the following assets,,, >click to read< 19:17

Coast Guard suspends search for person in the water in Mobile Bay, Alabama

The Coast Guard suspended its search, Saturday, for a person in the water in Mobile Bay, Alabama. The Coast Guard and local agencies began searching Friday after watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report of a capsized boat in Mobile Bay. Coast Guard suspends search for man overboard in Ugashik Bay, has been identified

The Coast Guard suspended its search Friday for a man reported overboard from the 190-foot fishing vessel Cape Greig in Ugashik Bay, Alaska. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak HC-130 Hercules aircraft crew, a Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and nine good Samaritan vessels searched a total of 13-square miles along the Ugashik Bay shoreline and up the river in efforts to locate the man. Overboard fisherman sought near Pilot Point – Grant Hildreth Jr., 25, reportedly fell into the river at about 4 p.m., troopers said in an online dispatch. Word of the fall was relayed to troopers by the village public safety officer in Pilot Point. >click to read<16:21

Update: Coast Guard suspends search for unconfirmed person in the water

The Coast Guard suspended the search for an unconfirmed person in the water, Saturday. After searching for eight hours over 5 1/2 nautical square miles Coast Guard Sector New Orleans suspended the search at 5:47 p.m. At approximately 4:20 a.m. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report of a 30-foot shrimp vessel on fire in Long Bay near Buras, Louisiana. It was reported that the vessel later sank in approximately 4-feet of water approximately one mile from Joshua Marina. A portion of the super structure is visible above water. –USCG

UPDATE: F/V Miss Shauna – Coast Guard suspends search for missing fisherman south of Montauk, NY 

The Coast Guard has suspended the search Tuesday evening for a missing person who was last seen aboard a fishing vessel 25 miles south of Montauk, New York. Missing is a 55-year old crewmember from the fishing vessel Miss Shauna who was last seen at 4:00 p.m., Monday, and was not wearing a life jacket at the time. For approximately 28-hours, a number of Coast Guard units, as well as several fishing vessels, ran 22-search patterns and covered an area over 4,200 square miles. -USCG- 23:29

UPDATE 2 AND FINAL: F/V Miss Destinee – Coast Guard suspends search for 2 missing in Marmot Bay, Alaska

The Coast Guard suspended the search late Friday night for a man and woman reported missing from the fishing vessel Miss Destinee that capsized in Marmot Bay, Thursday morning.,,, “We and our fellow military partners and the good Samaritans have heavy hearts after an extensive and difficult search in Marmot Bay,” said Capt. Sean Mackenzie, commander of Coast Guard Sector Anchorage. “We conducted this search and rescue mission as if two of our own shipmates became missing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the man and woman still missing.” A federal on-scene coordinator representative from Sector Anchorage is en route to Kodiak to oversee commercial salvage operations. The vessel Sea Strike is scheduled to arrive later tonight with divers aboard to commence salvage operations to recover the Miss Destinee. Coast Guard suspends search for the Crew of the Miss Debbie

Coast Guard suspends search for missing Tangier waterman

A search for a missing Tangier Island waterman was suspended, a day after his boat sank 5 miles off the island throwing him and is son into the chilly waters of the Chesapeake Bay and devastating their small island community. There was still no sign of Ed Charnock when the search was halted around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, said Petty Officer Berry Bena of Coast Guard Station Baltimore. “The whole island’s in mourning,” said Tangier Mayor James “Ooker” Eskridge, who called Charnock “a very likeable guy – very humble.” Charnock and his son, Jason, went overboard after broadcasting on marine radio that their 40-foot boat was taking on water around 2:30 p.m. Monday. Weather conditions were hazardous with high winds, rain and reduced visibility, but most watermen are used to working in those conditions, said Charnock’s brother-in-law, Dan Harrison of Crisfield.
