Last night his wife Catherine, 39, and four children Caitlin, 21, Chelsea, 18, Craig, 16, and Carly, 10, paid tribute to the fisherman of 28 years. They said he had just become a grandfather for the first time with the birth of little Kayson in May. Young Craig, who recently celebrated his 16th birthday out at sea with his dad, had only started working in the fishing industry alongside his father in the past few months. Tributes paid to popular Scots fisherman who died after falling overboard into the North Sea
Tributes have been paid to a popular Scots fisherman who tragically died after falling overboard into the North Sea. The 45-year-old, who has been named locally as John Mctaggart, fell into the water shortly before 2am on Tuesday around four miles off the Stonehaven coast. From 2000 through 2016, 204 fishermen died after falling overboard. Nearly 60 percent were not witnessed and nearly 90 percent were never found. In every case, not one fisherman was wearing a life jacket. “I think there is a social stigma against it. It doesn’t look cool, it’s a sort of macho thing. Fisherman drowns in Cook Inlet; body brought to Homer Harbor
A Kenai man died at sea Thursday after falling overboard from a commercial fishing boat this morning north of Kodiak. Alaska State Troopers identified the victim as Anthony Walsh, 62. The U.S. Coast Guard and Alaska State Troopers received a report at about 9 a.m. that a man went into the water off a fishing vessel about 124 nautical miles or 143 miles north of Kodiak in Cook Inlet. According to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch, Walsh fell overboard while salmon fishing with Kevin Loran, 59, of Anchorage. Loran attempted to get Walsh on board, but was not successful.

3 Fishermen pulled from water after falling overboard on first day of lobster season
Three people were pulled from the water after they went overboard from two boats southwest of Yarmouth for a freezing and dangerous start to the lobster season. Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre spokesman navy Lt. Len Hickey said two workers went overboard from one boat, plus one from a different boat, about 30 nautical miles southwest of Yarmouth.
