The two men accused of killing Franky the Pug are disputing the charges.
Justin Chipman and Nathan Burke were arrested on multiple charges after they allegedly broke into Phil Torrey’s home in 2018 and stole his hummer, taking his pug dog Franky along for the ride. At some point, Franky was shot and killed. His body was found, wrapped in plastic, on a Winter Harbor beach six days later. A Hancock man accused of killing a lobsterman’s pug who had not been seen since violating his bail conditions nearly six months ago was arrested over the weekend in Gouldsboro. Nathan A. Steuben man found guilty of shooting fisherman’s dog, Franky the pug
A judge has convicted a Steuben man in the August 2018 killing of a dog owned by a lobsterman he had worked for. At the end of a one-day bench trial Thursday in an Ellsworth courtroom, Justice Robert Murray found that Justin Chipman, 24, was guilty in the shooting death of Franky, a pug whose body washed up on a Winter Harbor beach days after he went missing while his owner was out of town.
