The Coast Guard is searching for a man missing since just before midnight off the waters of Ogunquit, Police Sgt. Matt Buttrick said early Friday. While it’s a fact that’s hardly ever acknowledged, the assumption in fisheries management is that if the population of a stock of fish isn’t at some arbitrary level, it’s because of too much fishing. Hence the term “overfished.” Hence the mandated knee jerk reaction of the fisheries managers to not enough fish; cut back on fishing. What of other factors? They don’t count. It’s all about fishing, because fishing is all that the managers can control; it’s their Maslow’s Hammer. When it comes to the oceans it seems as if it’s about all that the industry connected mega-foundations that support the anti-fishing ENGOs with hundreds of millions of dollars a year in “donations” are interested in controlling. I know its a long shot at this point, but im hoping for the best,hopefully Billys hangin onto a lob buoy out there waitin to get picked up,wouldnt surprise me,he’s a f-in Wildman,had many a great nite with him tuna fishin up in k-port back in the 90’s,creepin outta the “CELLAR” in the wee hrs.Always took care of his outta town fishermen and helped everyone out whenever he could,truly a great man! heard he may have expired saving someone else,dont know the story yet,but wouldn’t surprise ma at all. This is a sad day indeed,my heart felt condolences go out to his family and he will be remembered fondly by a WHOLE lotta people!
