The New England groundfish debacle (Part III): who or what is at fault? Nils E. Stolpe/FishNet
NILS STOLPE: The New England groundfish debacle (Part IV): Is cutting back harvest really the answer?
While it’s a fact that’s hardly ever acknowledged, the assumption in fisheries management is that if the population of a stock of fish isn’t at some arbitrary level, it’s because of too much fishing. Hence the term “overfished.” Hence the mandated knee jerk reaction of the fisheries managers to not enough fish; cut back on fishing. What of other factors? They don’t count. It’s all about fishing, because fishing is all that the managers can control; it’s their Maslow’s Hammer. When it comes to the oceans it seems as if it’s about all that the industry connected mega-foundations that support the anti-fishing ENGOs with hundreds of millions of dollars a year in “donations” are interested in controlling. I have a question for AG M. Coakley. What info would the U.S. GAO have on NOAA/NMFS regarding Fisheries for the last few Decades? I know Dale Jones couldn’t get anywhere near them with his Shredder.
Also did anyone check NOAA/NMFS Employees Luggage before they left the U.S.A. on there many JUNKETS? Just a couple thoughts. You know the old saying follow the MONEY…
Happy Holidays
I can’t speak to that, but I’ll say one thing about Martha, she hit a home run when she supported the House version.
The Senate version is Pew/EDF/CLF, and all the shitheads. Not to mention, all the big Seattle conglomerates that like everything just like it is. Its worked well for them, while everyone else has got their nuts chopped off.
Lame Duck with Executive Order option holds the Trump Card unfortunately. Moses may have been able to part the Red Sea, but the BIG “O” holds all the Cards no Poker Face necessary. He’ll just lay them down 5 Jokers in his Deck. There’s no empathy in the “O”val Office either. America needs to wake up before there’s no WATER to make the Coffee. There’ll always be a Cot available at your nearest FEMA Camp. How sad, time for a Tarreton Comercial, smoke’m if you got’em…
