200-year-old anchor on display at Port of Kalama
A historic 1,120-pound anchor found years ago at the bottom of the Columbia River is now on display at Port of Kalama’s interpretative center. Commercial fisherman Jim Toteff stumbled on the aquatic antique in 1988, when his net caught something, and he sent a scuba diver down to investigate. After dislodging the massive anchor, Toteff had it towed to his Kalama home where it was displayed as decorative lawn ornament for a number of years.
