Judah and Sons Fish Market in Sebastian closes after 70 years
A dream that lasted 70 years ended Monday, when Judah and Sons Fish Market opened its doors for the last time. Years of financial struggles, increased state regulations of commercial fishing — starting with the 1995 entanglement net ban — and mounting repairs from a deteriorating seawall took their toll on the retail fish market, which began in 1949 by Bascomb Judah and his son, James Coolidge Judah. “We knew this day was coming,” said Bascomb’s grandson, Kevin Judah, 58. “But when it gets here, it takes your breath away.” >click to read< 18:00
