Mike Voisin’s Widow Appointed to Louisiana Seafood Board by Governor Jindal
Sitting on a back porch swing for two, Sarah Theriot Voisin surveys her beloved gardens sitting next to an empty seat filled only with memories and the yard hat of her late husband and strong voice of Louisiana Seafood – Michael C. Voisin. Tears still come easily to her eyes as she remembers her husband more than two month after his unexpected death from a sudden heart illness. A tireless champion for the industry and state he loved, she believes her husband would want her to move on and do whatever it takes to help Louisiana and its seafood community; she has decided to keep Mike’s memory alive by accepting that challenge. continued

The (Salisbury, Md.) Daily Times – WEST OCEAN CITY, MD. — It had been a good day at sea for the Instigator, an 80-foot trawler out of Cape May, so it was a good day at Martin Fish Co. The red-and-white fishing vessel was tied up at Martin’s dock in the Ocean City Commercial Fishing Harbor last week, unloading its catch of 30,000 pounds of porgies and 15,000 pounds of black sea bass caught that morning. continued
Investigators say boat sank off Cape May after dredge became snagged; boater still missing
The 40-foot Linda Claire was at the mouth of the Delaware Bay, six miles west of Cape May Point, dredging for conchs and blue crabs Thursday morning when the boat rolled over and sent the three-man crew into 43-degree waters. Captain Chris Serra, 27, of Vineland, and Dave Wood, 25, of Commercial Township, were both saved by crewmen from other boats working in the area. continued
