Coast Guard, good Samaritans rescue 4 people after fishing vessel capsized near Kodiak
Coast Guard Sector Anchorage watchstanders received a report over VHF channel 16 at approximately 4:31p.m. from the crew of F/V Alaska Rose, a 46-foot fishing vessel, stating their vessel was taking on water. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast on VHF channel 16 and launched a Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew. The helicopter aircrew arrived on scene at approximately 4:56 p.m., located one person on the overturned vessel, hoisted them, and transferred them to Air Station Kodiak where they were met by local EMS. The crew of Good Samaritan vessel Kylia arrived on scene at approximately 5:02p.m., rescued three people from the water, and transferred them to Kodiak where they were met by local EMS. more, >>click to read<< 21:12
Coast Guard medevacs crewmember from vessel near, Kodiak, Alaska
A Coast Guard aircrew medevaced a mariner Sunday near Kodiak, Alaska. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Air Station Kodiak hoisted and transported the injured man from the 252-foot fishing vessel, F/V American Triumph, to awaiting Emergency Services Personnel at the air station. Coast Guard experiencing communication degradation in Prince William Sound, Alaska
Coast Guard Sector Anchorage watchstanders are experiencing intermittent communications within the 3,745 square-mile area of Prince William Sound and may not be able to hear mariners on VHF-FM radio. “As technicians work to analyze and restore Coast Guard radio coverage for Prince William Sound, I urge mariners to listen more carefully to channel 16 and to relay any possible distress calls to the Coast Guard via other means, like HF radio, satellite communications and cell phones,” said Cmdr. Coast Guard assists fishing vessel aground near Kodiak (F/V Neptune)
Coast Guard Sector Anchorage watchstanders received a report at 1:40 a.m. from the Neptune crew stating they ran aground and were taking on water. Watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast for assistance from any nearby mariners and requested the launch of the helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak. Read more
