MAIB Launch Investigation Into Fatal Man Overboard from Kingfisher
The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) is to investigate a tragic incident occurred which approximately 30 nautical miles east-northeast of Wick, Scotland, resulting in the fatality of a crew member from the UK-registered fishing vessel Kingfisher (DH110). The unfortunate event unfolded on Friday 12 July 2024, when a crew member went overboard while the vessel was conducting routine fishing operations. Despite immediate efforts by the crew to rescue their colleague, the situation ended in tragedy. The Kingfisher, an 18.35-metre fishing vessel, was operating in the North Sea when the incident took place. MCIB Report into Death of Galway Fisherman Published
An investigation into the death of a Galway fisherman who became entangled in gear off Salthill last year, found the weather deteriorated “significantly” after the vessel which he fished with his father left the harbour. Tom Oliver, a relative of the Olivers who rescued two paddleboarders in Galway Bay in August 2020, died after he was dragged over the stern of the six-metre fishing vessel Myia on November 2nd 2020. 55-year-old man dies on Alaska F/V Anna Lane – Accident in Cook Inlet kills Wisconsin man; victim’s arm caught in anchor chain
Alaska State Troopers said a Wisconsin man died in an accident aboard a boat in Cook Inlet. Troopers said 55-year-old Lewis Byerly of Frederic, Wis., on Thursday morning pulled up an anchor with a motorized winch on the fishing boat Anna Lane and his arm became tangled in the chain. continued@channel3000
