Macduff Ship Design are pleased to announce the completion of the new build fishing vessel, ‘ZENITH, BF 106’
The vessel was built by Macduff Shipyards for owner Mark Robertson, along with sons Paul and Adam. This fishing vessel replaces the owner’s previous two fishing vessels, ZEYPHR BF 601 (ex UBEROUS) built by the yard in 2005 and ZENITH BF 106 (ex DAYSTAR) built by the yard in 2008. The vessel is intended to fish out of Fraserburgh in the North East of Scotland, targeting primarily prawns in the North Sea region. Fishing vessel Zenith completed by Macduff Shipyards
Macduff Shipyards has recently signed over its latest new build fishing vessel Zenith BF 106 to owner Mark Robertson and his sons Paul and Adam. The fishing boat replaces the owner’s previous two trawlers Zeyphr BF 601(ex-Uberous) built by the yard in 2005 and Zenith BF 106 (ex-Daystar) built by the yard in 2008. Macduff’s Biggest Newbuild – So Far
This is Mark Lovie’s fourth Macduff trawler in a series that started with the wooden-hulled Venture, built as Endeavour II in 1993. Since then the steel-hulled Venture II in 2001, Venture III in 2017 and now Venture IV have each been the largest vessels built at the yard at various points. The new Venture IV is the yard’s largest newbuild in terms of both size and gross tonnage. The newbuild process began in 2020 when he went to the yard looking for options for a new vessel to replace his previous <24m registered trawler, as well as seeking improvements in fuel efficiency, speed, sea keeping, and crew comfort. The yard’s design team knew that a larger vessel would be needed to meet all these requirements and the outcome was a design for a 34.50 metre, 10.50 metre breadth trawler. Macduff Shipyards celebrate as newly built vessel is signed over to owners
The Celestial Dawn, BF 109 was designed between Macduff Shipyards and firm Macduff Ship Design and built at the yard’s fabrication hall in Buckie. The brand new fishing vessel is the first of three sister ships with a second boat now under construction and a third due to be built later this year. New Concept Design Provides Comfort And Economy
There’s nothing like a returning customer – and this isn’t the first time that George Hepburn and his partners have been to Macduff for a new trawler, as the previous Celestial Dawn BF-109 came from the same yard back in 2000. The new Celestial Dawn, which will be fishing from Peterhead primarily for prawns on North Sea grounds, is the first of three sister vessels being built to the same entirely new design developed by Macduff Ship Design and Macduff Shipyards. Options open for solo and pair trawling – The latest delivery from Macduff Shipyards
Like its predecessor of the same name, the new F/V Fruitful Vine is designed to fish around Scotland, operating mainly solo, but with the opportunity to operate as part of a pair team opposite the family’s other trawler, F/V Steadfast Hope BF-340. There’s no better sign of a satisfied customer than one who returns for more business – and F/V Fruitful Vine’s predecessor was also a Macduff build, delivered in 2010. F/V Fruitful Vine’s hull is built entirely from steel, topped with an aluminium wheelhouse and masts. Macduff Shipyards completes first new build pair trawl order in more than 30 years
Macduff Shipyards has handed over two new fishing vessels Faithful (FR 129) and the Crystal River (FR 178) to their respective owners Stewart Buchan and David Cardno of Fraserburgh. These boats operate exclusively as a pair trawl team fishing out of their home port, and have the distinction of being the yards first new build pair trawl order in more than 30 years. Fishing Vessel Orion is the latest new trawler from Macduff Shipyards
The steel-hulled Orion has an aluminium wheelhouse and mast, and is laid out on largely conventional lines with the cabins, engine room, fishroom and fresh water tank below deck level, the forward winch room, galley/mess, catch handling area and after shelter above deck. The yard also delivered the complete hydraulic package for Orion, including a triple-barrel winch powered by dual motors located forward and two split net drums aft, plus 
two bagging winches, two small gear handling winches, a cod end winch and a dedicated anchor windlass. The MFB8 landing crane and MBK13 powerblock crane, both featuring a slew ring base, are supplied by Thistle Marine. Orion is fishing with trawl gear supplied by Faithlie Trawl (International) Ltd, Seaforth Trawls Ltd and Caley Fisheries, with the trawl gear spread using a 72-inch pair of Thyborøn Type 11 trawl doors. photos, >click to read< 17:06
Fishing Machine – The Fifth Endeavor from Macduff
The new trawler took shape only a few miles from Peter Lovie’s home and it sails with a local crew of ten, including his sons David, Ryan and Andrew. ‘It’s particularly satisfying that Endeavour V has a young crew,’ he said. Endeavour V – Latest And Largest Macduff Build
The first trawler to be built at Macduff for skipper Peter Lovie, Endeavour V, is the latest instalment in a relationship that goes back 35 years – and the yard’s largest newbuild to date. Made In Macduff
Adam Tait and his sons Adam and Jonathan went back to Macduff Shipyards for a new F/V Jacqueline Anne, replacing a trawler delivered by the same yard in 2013, with the new trawler built to the yard’s latest design. Built to fish around Scotland but mainly on North Sea grounds, Jacqueline Anne has been built using the same hull from as F/V Crystal Sea, which Macduff delivered in early 2020 to the Stevens family in Newlyn. The 24.50 metre LAO, 7.60 metre breadth design is an evolution of the yard’s older 24 metre design, with modifications made to reduce hull resistance and improve fuel efficiency. photos, >click to read< 15:48
