Missing fishermen named as Irish Sea search continues
A fishing boat crew missing off the north Wales coast since Wednesday night has been named as Alan Minard, Ross Ballantine and skipper Carl McGrath. The three men were working on the Nicola Faith,,, A major search operation, including coastguard teams and RNLI lifeboats, moved into a second day on Friday. Despite mother’s pleas, search efforts are over for missing St. Lawrence fisherman
After the deaths of three fishermen at sea, the southern Newfoundland town of St. Lawrence is in shock, while the mother of a missing fourth man is pleading with officials to continue a search for her son. The search for family friend Isaac Kettle ended 8:45 p.m. Wednesday night. But Kettle’s mother, Aundriette Kettle, said Thursday she wants extra equipment to find and raise the Sarah Anne from the ocean, as she believes her son’s body is still on the vessel. “Them other bodies were found, [but] my son is on that boat. Coast Guard searches for missing Fishermen from Capsized Fishing Vessel 1 mile northeast of Tybee Island
The Coast Guard is searching Wednesday for missing boaters approximately one mile northeast of Tybee Island, Georgia. Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders were notified by the District 7 Command Center at 6:22 p.m., Tuesday, of an emergency position indicating radio beacon activation registered to the 47-foot fishing vessel Miss Debbie. A Coast Guard Station Tybee Island 45-foot Response Boat – Medium boatcrew launched at 7:35 p.m. The RB-M boatcrew arrived on scene at 7:48 and discovered the Miss Debbie capsized and began a search for crew members. A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched to assist in the search. Georgia and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources are also assisting search efforts. USCG 11:44
Family of Coos Bay fisherman: ‘He was a remarkable man’
The US Coast Guard has suspended their search for two fishermen presumed lost at sea, after their boat struck a jetty and capsized near Coos Bay. Family has identified a third crew member as Blaine Steinmetz. They tell FOX 12 his body was found hours after the wreckage. Blaine Steinmetz knew the risks of being out on the open seas, but did it anyway because he loved it, according to his stepdaughter Amy Sad. And she loved that about him. Read the article here 08:35
Search for missing Australian fishermen resumes
The search for three fishermen missing off the Pilbara coast resumed on Saturday morning but hopes are fading that they will be found alive. Mason Carter, 26, Chad Fairley, 30, and 57-year-old Murray Turner failed to return to Point Samson near Karratha in their 13-metre prawn trawler Returner on Wednesday morning. An unused life raft, emergency locator beacon, food supplies and fishing gear washed up along the Burrup Peninsula the next day. Read the rest here 07:38
