Scarborough crab boat owner backs call for gas to be extracted from North Sea

A Scarborough crab boat owner says gas in two fields off the North Yorkshire coast needs to be extracted to prevent the country being “dependent on everyone else”. The Resolution gas discovery was an early North Sea discovery made by Total in 1966 and extracted from North Sea of The Well Dressed Crab Company, said he could remember seeing its rig off the coast in the 1980s. Mr Roberts said: “It’s not only about fishing, the population is an interested party too. “I’m part of UK PLC and I want to know where gas is coming from. “There will be people opposed to it but they will be the same people who expect to go home and turn on the gas boilers and expect to put a pan of stew on the stove.” >click to read< 08:05

Commercial Fisherman Captain Stanley Russell Bayley of Scarborough, Maine, has passed away

Stanley was born on Nov. 26, 1943, in Biddeford to Russell and Bessie Bayley. Raised on Jones Creek in Pine Point, Scarborough, Stanley started his first job digging clams at the early age of 9 when clams were $1.50 per bushel. Commercial fishing with his grandfather by 13, he bought his first lobster boat by 16, the “Dirty Shame.” After owning three smaller boats, Stan bought his first commercial dragger, the “April Gale” in 1970. In the years that followed he would go on to acquire an additional five draggers and becoming one Maine’s most successful commercial fishermen. SCARBOROUGH, Maine: Lobster boat Seven Seas to the rescue! Pulls father and son aboard.

lobster boat scetchRough seas are being blamed for capsizing a 20-foot boat, stranding a father and son, who were rescued by a passing lobsterman who heard the U.S. Coast Guard’s call for help.
