As proven in the 20 seasons of Deadliest Catch, nothing is for certain. Things can change on a whim, and security is something not to take for granted. Fan-favorite Jake Anderson has learned this the hard way. After putting everything into the F/V Saga, Jake suddenly lost control of the boat he part-owned when he was served a repossession note. With the timing coinciding with the Red King Crab fishery reopening and a derby-style race underway, Jake was essentially lost at sea. Captain Jake Anderson has been a staple on the Discovery Channel series Deadliest Catch since 2007. When he started in the industry nearly 18 years ago, he began working as a greenhorn on the F/V Northwestern. Through his time in the industry, Jake has tried his hand at every job in his career, ranging from deckhand, deck boss, engineer, captain, and vessel owner. Deadliest Catch: The Crab Industry Is Struggling – Will Mandy take over F/V Northwestern if Sig retires?
“Deadliest Catch” has been hinting this could possibly be the very last King Crab season. Episode 1 already shows the captains joining forces to find and catch crab since they endured many obstacles during the COVID-19 pandemic. This could be the final straw for Sig. He comes from a long line of fishermen and started fishing at age 14. Sig is 54 years old. While he’s not technically considered old, he does have a slew of health issues. Deadliest Catch star Sig Hanson survives heart attack
Capt. Sig Hansen, the chain-smoking, coffee-chugging star of the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch, has survived a brush with his mortality. Hansen’s daughter, Mandy Hansen, shared a photo on Instagram of her father in a hospital bed with a caption reading: “Capt survived the ‘widowmaker’ !! Beating a heart attack ain’t easy. Sig Hansen may be great in the Bering Sea, but how about in the chilly “Celebrity Apprentice” boardroom? Basically, he is going from Alaska to one of the most-populated places in the world for this competition. This competition could be tough for Sig, but almost from a sociological perspective, we are interested to see how he fares in the boardroom alongside celebrities with giant egos.
