New Bedford’s fishing community is working with Vineyard Wind. Here’s how.

For Captain Tony Alvernaz, accepting a job doing safety work for Vineyard Wind has provided added income for his family and the families of the people who work for him. They are monitoring the work zone for Vineyard Wind as the company proceeds with turbine installation and at the same time are helping get the word out to other fishermen, according to Crista Bank, the fisheries manager at Vineyard Wind. Bank said the involvement of fishing vessels in the project is really important and that the same opportunities are offered to a single vessel owner, a scallop owner with a couple of boats or vessels that are up to international standards. “We’re trying to make sure we’re contracting with all different sized vessels and vessel owners,” she said. >click to read< 08:10

Do not support this atrocity that will put fisherman out of business and ruin some of the best fishing grounds in the world

On the one hand I am trying to be sympathetic to boat owners looking to supplement their income.
But I have this terrible foreboding feeling that fishermen are buying bullets and supplying weapons to the very people who are shooting at them.
These offshore wind companies and the politicians who support them are the enemy, plain and simple.

I never expected to see this become a reality. I knew in my heart these guys would stand their ground and fight the industrializing of our oceans, not become accomplices to the destruction of them. What would they have done to supplement their incomes without this?

We have met the enemy…and they are us.
Big picture deep thinkers? I guess not.
How often have we seen it? They throw us just enough rope to hang ourselves. The decision to get into bed with these windscammers will follow you for the rest of your lives.
        Pitiful

What kind of a person only thinks about themselves I made a living fishing for 50 years and seen it all don’t help the wind people
