Four rescued from raft as coastguard scrambled after boat runs aground
The crew of a fishing boat has been rescued from a life raft after the vessel ran aground off the coast of Aberdeenshire. Coastguard teams from Fraserburgh and Peterhead were dispatched to the incident involving the Ocean Maid BA55 at Cairnbulg shortly after 5.50am on Monday morning. The Fraserburgh RNLI boat was also scrambled to aid in the operation, though the crew was said to be “fine” after an initial check by Scottish Ambulance Service responders. Four fishermen rescued from liferaft after fishing vessel fire off the Cork coast
Shortly before 2am this morning, Valentia Coast Guard was alerted to a fire on board the ‘Horizon’ fishing vessel around 20 miles south east of the Old Head of Kinsale. A multi-agency response co-ordinated by the Valentia Coast Guard,,, Within minutes of the mayday alert being issued, the crew abandoned the vessel to their liferaft as the fire had engulfed their boat. Shortly afterwards, the crew was recovered from their liferaft by the Offshore Supply ship Pathfinder that had been operating at the Kinsale Gas field. >photos, click to read< 07:52
Four fishermen rescued off the coast New South Wales
Four men are lucky to be alive after they were rescued from a sinking trawler off the south coast of New South Wales on Saturday morning. A rescue chopper was sent out to the scene at Bengunnu Point at Mimoso Rocks National Park, south of Canberra after an alert was sent out by the men at 6.20am on Saturday. The men’s ship allegedly hit rocks in the peninsula causing it to start sinking. A large amount of floating debris of the trawler was found in the waters and on a nearby beach. >click to read<12:56
Four fishermen rescued by fishing boat off Newfoundland when boat burns
Four fishermen are safe today after a rescue at sea from a burning boat about 50 kilometres off the coast of Newfoundland’s northern peninsula. The fishermen from the Atlantic Provider were brought back to Port aux Choix Wednesday afternoon on board the fishing vessel Avalon Voyager. The Avalon Voyager was close by when the distress call was issued and steamed to the aid of the burning vessel. Capt. Liam Mather of the rescue co-ordination centre says a cormorant helicopter was sent from Gander but didn’t participate in the rescue. He says the helicopter returned to its base after the Avalon Voyager took the fishermen on board. Link 08:10
Lobster boat sinks; four Nova Scotia fishermen rescued
Four fishermen have been rescued from a sinking fishing vessel off the South Shore just a few hours after the start of the lobster season. The vessel Shawn and Gary was reported sinking 20 miles south of Liverpool shortly before 10 a.m. and a Mayday call was issued and relayed by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifax. The fishermen had abandoned the boat. Two crewmembers were in a liferaft and two were in the water for a short time until were rescued by another nearby vessel, the Patty and Andy, which was only two miles away when the Mayday call came in. more@sccoastguard 20:33
