Fisherman tells of the moment his crew hauled in the wreckage of a missing German plane in their NET off the coast of Scotland
A fisherman has revealed the shocking moment he and his crew discovered the wreckage of a missing German plane more than 12 months after it disappeared. Benarkle II skipper, Mark Addison, hauled in a section of the Cessna 172’s fuselage while fishing on Friday and brought it to the Greenhead Base in Lerwick. The four-seater aircraft went missing after taking off from near Hamburg, Germany, with only the 62-year-old pilot on board on September 30, 2023. Human remains found inside small plane pulled from the sea off the coast of Scotland
Human remains have been recovered from the wreckage of a missing German plane which crashed into the North Sea more than a year ago. The light aircraft was found in the water north-east of Lerwick, Shetland, on Friday and was brought to shore by a fishing boat on Sunday. Police Scotland have confirmed that human remains were found inside the plane. A trawler from Peterhead called the Benarkle II had hauled in a section of the plane’s fuselage while fishing on Friday and brought it to the Greenhead Base in Lerwick. Galloway fisherman to lodge Police Scotland complaint after being targeted in huge operation
A Galloway fisherman claims he was “victimised” in a major police operation linked to people trafficking. Port William man Paul Maguire had his boat temporarily impounded and guarded, his crew house raided and quayside lobster shed searched. Police also raided his parents’ home in nearby Mochrum while his mother was celebrating her 90th birthday. According to witnesses at the scene, armed officers forced entry to the lobster shed shouting a warning. Police Scotland confirmed they had warrants to search the premises. Man dies after falling overboard from fishing boat
A fisherman has died after going overboard from local whitefish trawler Copious 30 miles south east of Sumburgh in the early hours of the morning on Thursday. Gear Wars: Scallop dredgers accused of sabotaging creel fishing gear
A minority of skippers vying to dredge for scallops off Peterhead and Fraserburgh have threatened creel fishermen and towed away their gear, resulting in miles of rope and tonnes of plastic left dumped in the ocean. Criminal investigation ordered into sinking of Nancy Glen
A criminal investigation is being held into the sinking of a fishing boat in which two men died. The Nancy Glen went down in Loch Fyne, near Tarbert, on January 18. Duncan MacDougall, 46, and Przemek Krawczyk, 38, who lived in the village, were on board when the trawler sank. It was confirmed yesterday that police have been asked to investigate. Search for missing fishermen over as Nancy Glen is recovered
An operation which took all night to complete saw the boat being lifted from the seabed just after 7.30am. Skipper Duncan MacDougall, 46, and crewman Przemek Krawczyk, 38, were still aboard the prawn trawler when it sank on January 18.
