Coronavirus: Dear UFA Members and Friends, All people arriving in Alaska are required to self-quarantine
Covid-19 Response
Dear UFA Members and Friends,
As we all try to understand the magnitude of Covid-19, UFA is closely monitoring the evolving situation. We are actively engaged on the issue at the state and federal level and we will continue to provide you with information as soon as we get it.
Last night, Governor Dunleavy issued a Health Mandate for the State of Alaska.
All people arriving in Alaska, whether resident, worker or visitor, are required to self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor for illness. Arriving residents and workers in self-quarantine, should work from home, unless you support critical infrastructure (see Attachment A). (Food and agriculture, company cafeterias, cultivation, including farming, livestock, and fishing;)
Critical infrastructure is vital to keeping Alaska safe, and as a result businesses and employees of critical infrastructure industries must take special care to protect their staff and operations during this pandemic. If your business is included in Attachment A, and your workers must travel to enter Alaska, you must submit a plan or protocol for maintaining critical infrastructure to the Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development by 3:00 p.m. March 24, outlining how you will avoid the spread of COVID-19 and not endanger the lives of the communities in which you operate, of others who serve as a part of that infrastructure or the ability of that critical infrastructure to function.
Clarifying guidance on Health Mandate 010 from Director of Economic Development/Alaska Development:
1) The 15:00, 24 March 2020 deadline for plan submission is only for travel planned prior to 01 May 2020. For all workers traveling after 01 May, those plans may be submitted at a later date, to be determined.
2) Businesses should submit their plans to the Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development at: [email protected].
3) For questions, please contact Tom Koloski, Emergency Management Specialist III at: [email protected]
