Please Donate to the Larry O’Grady Family Fund
Please help our Auntie Gail during this devastating tragedy. On February 11, 2017, Gail received a phone call that would forever change her life. Her beloved husband and best friend “Larry O” is missing at sea. On Saturday morning the fishing vessel ‘Destination’ sent an emergency distress signal to the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard announced they would search for the missing vessel and crew members for 3 days. With heavy hearts, the Coast Guard has suspended the search for the crew of the fishing vessel Destination. This fund will go to our Auntie Gail to ease the financial burden that this tragedy has left her with. Thoughts and prayers to the owner, his crew members and their families. Lobster Fisherman Gentle Giant (Jim Buchanan) Fundraiser
As most people have already heard, the Buchanan family is going through a tragedy. Jim Buchanan (Big Jim) passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 7th, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife Lisa, two sons Matthew and Brett, a daughter Melissa, and a beautiful 9-month-old granddaughter. He was the “bread winner” of the family. Not only did he support his family but many in the community as well. His house was like a ‘do drop in’ and no one ever left there hungry. His house, for a family of 5, always had a family of 20. He didn’t know the word “no”. The family is at such a lose that they could really use some help to get them back on their feet. Please donate if you can, click here 16:24
Murrells Inlet fundraiser set for Lost at Sea Memorial Saturday, Sept. 10th
People who would like to support the Lost at Sea Memorial in Murrells Inlet will gather at the Big Beaver Bar for a fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 10. The event, which will features food, live music, raffles, door prizes and a silent auction, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is a suggested $10 donation. “This is a benefit to help the memorial and continue adding names as necessary,” said event organizer Gary Pew. “It is for a good local cause.” The Lost at Sea Memorial is located at Morse Park Landing in Murrells Inlet. He said he attended the last Lost at Sea Memorial service held in April with a friend who lost her son at sea. He found out that more funds are needed to maintain the monument and add names each year. According to the Lost at Sea Memorial website, it was established in April of 2005 by the family of Johnny W. Brown. He was a native of Horry County and a commercial fisherman out of Murrells Inlet. Read the story here 13:33
