When Long Island beaches come alive at high tide with hundreds of thousands of horseshoe crabs, looking to spawn under the spring and summer moons, it’s also time for many fishermen who track those cycles to harvest the arthropods at their most plentiful. Fishermen: Legislation To Protect New York’s Horseshoe Crabs Is ‘Overkill’
There is a new layer of protection for New York’s horseshoe crabs.
