2 more men charged in 2017 killing of Down East fisherman
Two more men have been charged in the 2017 killing of a Whitneyville man, bringing the total to three, police said Wednesday. Leanza Boney, 26 was arrested at his apartment on Staten Island, New York City, at 5 a.m. Wednesday by members of the U.S. Marshals Service and Maine State Police detectives on a warrant for murder, felony murder, arson, and robbery, Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release. Last week, Justin Matthews, 33, formerly of Pembroke, was arrested in Saco on similar charges in the October 2017 killing of Wayne Foss of Whitneyville. Seeking closure for lobsterman’s family: ‘No one wants a man lost at sea’
As Tylar Michaud headed home to Steuben from lobster fishing on Thursday, he told his father it had been a beautiful day on the water with no fog. They talked about finding time to finally get out on his boat together. “He was really proud of it and he wanted to get me out there to go fishing with him,” Ron Michaud said. Barely 24 hours later, Tylar Michaud’s boat, Top Gun, was found with no one aboard, setting off an intense search for the 18-year-old commercial fisherman. Search Continues Today for Missing Steuben Lobsterman
The Maine Marine Patrol will continue to search today for Tylar Michaud, 18 of Steuben, a commercial lobsterman who was reported missing Friday night at 5pm after failing to return from a day of hauling and setting his traps near Petit Manan Point. The search is focusing on the waters near Petit Manan Point where Michaud’s unoccupied boat was found Friday evening by a local fisherman. Today’s search will involve Marine Patrol boats and the Maine State Police/Marine Patrol Underwater Recovery Team. An aerial search will also be conducted by the Marine Patrol, Army National Guard, Air National Guard, and Maine Forest Service. >link< 09:52
Death of Maine fisherman found in his burned home being investigated as homicide
The death of a Whitneyville man found dead inside his burned home on Saturday is being investigated as a homicide. Maine State Police have identified the dead man as Wayne Foss, 48. Foss was a commercial fisherman who lived with his wife and son in the mobile home that burned, although his family was not home at the time of the fire, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a news release Monday. click here to read the story 17:08
