Retired Lobsterman Joseph A. Pesce Jr. of Revere, Mass, has passed away

Joseph was born in Revere on September 15, 1938. He was the son of the late Joseph A. and Anna (D’Ambrosio) Pesce. He had been a lifelong resident of Revere and attended Revere Public Schools. Following high school, Joe worked at the Boston Ship Yard as a pipe fitter until he decided to pursue his passion to be a lobsterman. Joe began working as a commercial lobsterman, which was a career that would span over 65 years. His devoted son, David, joined in his passion for lobstering and worked alongside him for the last 30 years. They were the best partners. Donnie MacVane has lived in the same house off the coast of Long Island for his entire life. At 95, you can bet that he’s gathered a story or two about the place! Retired Lobsterman Dennis R. Young, Sr., of Cushing, Maine has passed away

Dennis R. Young, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021. Born March 5, 1937 in Cushing, he was the son of Walter D. and Lucy A. (Sukeforth) Young. Dennis was a lifelong resident of Cushing and descended from a long line of fishermen that have called the area home since the 18th century. He graduated from Thomaston High School and captained the F/V Denise D. out of Pleasant Point Gut. Dennis learned a great many things from his father (known as “Bump”) including the value of hard work. He passed these lessons down to his own children and grandchildren in large part by showing them how to lobster and through his willingness to lend a hand. >click to read< 12:20

Retired Lobsterman Dennis Winthrop Norton of Martha’s Vineyard has passed away

Dennis was born on Oct. 16, 1945, in Vineyard Haven, and grew up in a bygone era of simple Island life. He was the son of Mildred Harriett Legg and Winthrop Mayhew Norton, A typical Island guy, Dennis was drawn to the water. He was a lobsterman, first out of a Novi skiff, then upgraded to the lobster boat Sea Foam out of Menemsha. In 1995, he purchased a new lobster boat, the Linda D. Normally not seeking the limelight, both he and Linda had a grand christening that summer during a spectacular Menemsha sunset, which was enjoyed by all attendees.
