Dixon McGlohon, 27- ‘Wicked Tuna’ Fish buyer city’s 11th overdose of year
Lucas Pina, general manager at the Lynn-based North Atlantic Traders, sent a text message to company buyer and driver Dixon McGlohon of Gloucester on Tuesday afternoon, thanking him for putting so much extra effort into the job. “I just told him, ‘Thanks for stepping up,'” Pina said Thursday, “and he responded, ‘Just doing my job.’ Now that’s class, and that’s the kind of guy he was.” Just a few hours later, McGlohon, known for his appearances on the National Geographic reality TV show “Wicked Tuna,” was pronounced dead at the age of 27, thought by police and Fire Department responders to be Gloucester’s latest victim in the ongoing opioid crisis. The death of “Wicked Tuna” cast member Nicholas “Duffy” Fudge at age 28 is being mourned in the Seacoast and beyond, and his family on Monday shared special memories dating back to his childhood. He caught his first tune around age 8, on his first day tuna fishing with his father, Ron. “We told him he should retire, never to do it again, because you don’t get many, but he didn’t listen,” Ron Fudge said. Nick, who grew up in Greenland, was he first mate on Rye Capt. Tyler McLaughlin’s boat The Pinwheel. Another Cast Member of “Wicked Tuna” Dies
Nicholas Fudge, who was the first mate on Captain Tyler McLaughlin’s boat, has died, as per reports on July 22, 2018. People have been extremely saddened by the news and are wondering how Duffy from Wicked Tuna died. Unfortunately, Nicholas Fudge’s cause of death of unknown at this time, but details are expected later. Wicked Tuna has tweeted, “We join his family and friends in mourning his untimely loss.” Fans of the show paid homage to Fudge on social media and offered their condolences. >click to read<08:01
Closing out the seventh season, ‘Wicked Tuna’ celebrating 100th episode
The hit National Geographic reality series “Wicked Tuna” is going to close out its seventh season with its 100th episode Sunday night. When producers first came to Gloucester back in 2011, none of the captains realized what they were in for. Even Capt. Dave Marciano of Beverly, who fishes out of Gloucester, admitted then that he didn’t think anything would come of it. National Geographic Channel launches its seventh season of “Wicked Tuna” this Sunday, March 11, at 9 p.m., with an extended 90-minute episode. The new season finds the captains in need of redemption. Beverly resident Capt. Dave Marciano of the Hard Merchandise is out to turn things around after a disappointing season in Gloucester last year, in which he caught only five fish. Rye Harbor will never be the same without Kohlhase
David Kohlhase Jr. grew up fishing out of Rye Harbor, “had that salt in his veins”, and was “one of those guys everyone loves to be around”, said his friend and fishing partner Tyler McLaughlin. Kohlhase, 18, died early Wednesday morning from injuries suffered in a snow tubing accident at Sunday River in Maine. Wicked Tuna draws out tourists
Henry and Cheryl Klemmer of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, traveled nearly 1,200 miles to Gloucester this week with a dream of meeting a “Wicked Tuna” captain. They didn’t meet one. They met five.
“Oh gosh, it really brought a personal connection to the show,” said Henry Klemmer. “It brought reality into the living room.” The seventh season of the National Geographic Channel’s hit series is currently filming in Gloucester, and will air in 2018. Meanwhile, the fourth season of the spinoff “Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks” premieres Sunday at 10 p.m.. That show includes two captains from the original series, T.J. Young Rye NH fisherman reels in National Geographic viewers
THE National Geographic show “Wicked Tuna” are already making plans to visit Rye Harbor this summer to spend a day at sea with one of the show’s local stars. Tyler McLaughlin, 25, has been fishing out of Rye Harbor during the summers since he was a child. Two years ago, after graduating from Nichols College, he purchased his own boat, the Pin Wheel, and began a career as a tuna fisherman. – Read more
Wicked Rye fisherman adds flavor to bluefin tuna TV show
RYE — Local fisherman Tyler McLaughlin has taken his love for tuna fishing to the television screen.
McLaughlin, a 25-year-old captain from Rye, will be among a group of tuna fishermen featured in season two of the National Geographic Channel’s series “Wicked Tuna.”
In the new season, which is set to premiere at 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, television crews from the National Geographic Channel follow McLaughlin and his crew — first mates Adam Moser and Alex Whitney — onboard the Pin Wheel as they troll the north Atlantic Ocean looking for bluefin tuna. Read More
