DFO seized and released hundreds of short lobster from a First Nations vessel in Cape Breton

DFO said enforcement officers inspected a vessel Tuesday night in St. Peters canal operating under a communal food, social and ceremonial licence. The lobsters were released that night. Noel d’Entremont, acting director of conservation and protection in the Maritimes region, said no charges have been laid, but an investigation is continuing. A portion of the incident was captured on video and posted to social media showing lobsters being tossed back in the water by DFO officers. Huh!!! Massachusetts Lobster Poachers Charged!

You can call it the “Illegalest Catch” after a lobster boat docked in Beverly was caught taking in illegal and undersized lobsters.,, Massachusetts Environmental Police Officers, responding to a tip from a concerned citizen, conducted surveillance of lobster boats offloading their catch at a facility in Beverly. Officers subsequently conducted an inspection of the lobster crates they had observed being offloaded. Florida Keys Fisherman Can’t Dip A Toe In Keys Waters For Five Years

A commercial fisherman in the Florida Keys has been sentenced in a case involving undersized lobster. The sentence also keeps him out of the water for quite some time. Alfredo Gonzalez was the captain of the lobster boat Perseverance when Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers stopped the vessel off the Gulf side of Marathon on Jan. 13, 2018.  >click to read< 11:51

Fisherman fined for one undersized lobster

A Merigomish fisherman was fined $2500 for having one undersized canner lobster in his catch. Percy John Hayne entered a guilty plea in Pictou provincial court Monday to having a lobster measuring less than 76 mm in his catch on May 31, 2017, in Lismore. Fisheries officers were at the Lismore wharf when Hayne was unloading his lobster catch. The market lobsters measured the proper limit but one of the lobsters picked out of the 95-pound catch of canners was undersized. click here to read the story 19:50
