Maine: Fire roars through fishing boat in Rockland

A commercial fishing boat was heavily damaged Tuesday night when a fire roared through the vessel while parked at a boatyard. The F/V Dark Star was ablaze when the first crews arrived shortly before 9:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in a parking lot of Journey’s End Marina on Tillson Avenue. Ferry rescues 3 fishermen from Cabot Strait after fishing boat fire

Three people are safe after being plucked from the waters of the Cabot Strait Monday night by a Newfoundland-bound ferry after their fishing vessel caught fire and later sank. The captain and two crew of the fishing vessel Sulian, which is owned by We’koqma’q First Nation in Cape Breton, had set out to fish red fish, according to We’koqmaq Chief Rod Googoo. Good Samaritans rescue 4 from fishing boat fire off Pillar Point Harbor

Four crewmembers from the commercial fishing vessel Ocean Gale were rescued by the crew of the commercial fishing vessel Smith Brothers #2, after a boat fire 13 miles southwest of Pillar Point Harbor. Fishermen aboard the Ocean Gale, a 37-foot vessel, contacted Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders at approximately 5 p.m., Monday, reporting a fire aboard their boat.,, Crews aboard four commercial fishing vessels, Alma, Mr. Morgan, Alicia Dawn and Smith Brothers #2, responded to the UMIB and diverted to the scene.  click here to read press release 22:30

Norton Sound: Arson ruled out, authorities trying to locate the owner

Authorities Thursday were still attempting to untangle a complicated web of ownership details linked to a fire-gutted boat that smoldered for several days over the weekend near Seaport Village in the San Diego Harbor, but investigators ruled out arson as the cause of the flames. What started the fire, which began Friday morning aboard the Norton Sound, was still undetermined Thursday, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokeswoman Monica Munoz said. The blaze was fully knocked down Sunday, but investigators were unable to probe its origins until mid-week. Two fishermen rescued from burning fishing boat in Cook Inlet

BurningBoatAlaska commercial fishermen report a dramatic rescue in Cook Inlet early Thursday. Domnin Martushev said was getting ready to fish for sockeye salmon early this morning when he noticed thick, black smoke pouring out of a nearby vessel. “We knew something was wrong,” Martushev told KTUU by cell phone from the fishing vessel, Player. Matushev and his captain motored toward the burning vessel. Another fishing boat had also come to help but its engine died so it wasn’t able to assist. The Player approached the burning vessel, Winchester. “We went up to the bow and we grabbed the two passengers. We grabbed their hands and tossed them in our boat,” Martushev said.
