A Letter to Senator Elizabeth Warren
I am Sam Parisi, a third-generation Gloucester fisherman. I am a commission member of the Fisheries Commision. I am a democrat. I am a member of the Gloucester Fisheries Committee. and past President of the Gloucester Democrat Committee. I was former chairman for former governor Mike Dukakis, and state representative Pat Fiero.
Recently U S Congressman Garret Graves, Senator Roger Wicker, and SenatorTed Cruz. to Modernize data used by NOAA and bring better science to the table. (Graves, Wicker Urge NOAA to Catch Better Data for Fisheries Management) We need to require NOAA to compare their science with other independent surveys and science. Under law, NOAA does not have to look at other science and surveys. That means whatever their findings are they base fish allocation fish and restrictions on only their findings.
Our fishermen’s lives depend on how much fish is out there and we should be able to catch, without overfishing different species. We need to update the Magnuson–Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act that would require NOAA to compare before making restrictions. In closing the fishing industry brings in over a billion dollars in Massachusetts. Iam willing to help you and have an event in town with you and fisherman, showing your support of the industry. They must be so proud of themselves to have the political influence to control a state that puts ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS above our MILITARY VETERANS NEEDS.
