The move follows a Herald report about the harbor district’s practice. The article described efforts by Danielle Dames, a 115-pound Castroville woman, to drive a braying sea lion bull weighing more than 500 pounds off the dock with a stick the size of a broom handle. Dames said she was afraid the animal would attack her and knock her into the water but she’d been offered no alternative for working off her punishment for a drunken-driving offense. continued@montereyherald
