Coast Guard, good Samaritans assist disabled fishing vessel crew off Barnegat Light, New Jersey
The Coast Guard and good Samaritans assisted four mariners Tuesday after the 64-foot commercial fishing vessel F/V Monica became disabled about 85 miles from the New Jersey coast. F/V Monica was reported to be experiencing transmission issues and a Coast Guard Station Barnegat Light 47-foot Motor Life Boat (MLB) crew safely towed the vessel to Lighthouse Marina, in Barnegat Light. Good Samaritans aboard the nearby commercial F/V Alexandria Dawn heard the distress call and diverted to help. Coast Guard tows disabled fishing vessel with 30,000 lbs. catch off New Hampshire coast
The Coast Guard towed an adrift 65-foot fishing vessel to Gloucester Harbor after becoming disabled about 30 miles off the coast of New Hampshire, Friday. Unable to receive help from a sister ship and concerned about the impending weather, the captain of the vessel, Black Beauty, contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Northern New England, at about 4:45 p.m. He reported their transmission stopped working, there were five people aboard, and they had 30,000 lbs. of catch on board. click here to read the story 09:29
Coast Guard rescues 4 Fishermen from disabled Fishing Vessel 2 miles east of Pritchards Island
The Coast Guard rescued four Fishermen Wednesday after their vessel became disabled two miles east of Pritchards Island. Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watch standers were notified via VHF Channel 16 at 2:45 a.m., by the crew of the Gracie Bell, an 80-foot fishing vessel, stating they had become disabled due to a broken mast. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston was diverted to assist at 3:11 a.m. The helicopter crew arrived on scene at 3:16 a.m., lowered a rescue swimmer and hoisted two crew members. The rescue swimmer and the remaining two crew members stayed aboard the vessel. The first two crew members were transported to Coast Guard Air Station Savannah at 3:30 a.m. The helicopter crew, after refueling, hoisted the remaining crew members and the rescue swimmer at 5:21 a.m., and landed at the air station at 5:36 a.m., where EMS were waiting. Coast Guard assists 6 aboard disabled fishing vessel off Long Beach, Wash.
The Coast Guard assisted a commercial fishing vessel safely back to shore after the crew of the vessel reported taking on water approximately 4 miles offshore of Long Beach, Washington, Sunday afternoon. The crew of the Tracer was uninjured and the vessel was safely moored in the Port of Ilwaco, Washington. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Columbia River Command Center received a mayday call via satellite phone at 11:35 a.m. The original report was a loss of engine power and taking on water with six people on board. An aircrew aboard anMH-60 Jayhawk helicopter was diverted to assist but was unable to communicate with the Tracer’s crew, so they passed a radio to the crew. The aircrew remained on scene until a crew aboard a47-foot MLB from Station Cape Disappointment arrived on scene. The MLB’s crew delivered a dewatering pump and assisted the Tracer in regaining engine power and then helped the crew control the flooding. The vessel’s crew started back toward Ilwaco with a precautionary escort from the MLB crew once it was safe to transit. The sea conditions encountered on scene were 5-foot swells and 30 MPH winds. Coast Guard rescues 4 from disabled fishing vessel 230 miles off Kodiak
The Coast Guard rescued four people from a disabled fishing vessel in heavy seas 230 miles east-southeast of Kodiak, Friday. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60T Jayhawk crew hoisted the four people from the Lady Gudny and transported them to Air Station Kodiak in good health. The Coast Guard Cutter SPAR, a 225-foot seagoing buoytender home ported in Kodiak, arrived on scene Friday morning. The SPAR prepared to bring the Lady Gudny into tow when the towline separated, causing the SPAR to become disabled. Watchstanders at the 17th Coast Guard District Command Center received notification from Coast Guard Communications Detachment Kodiak at 1:43 a.m. Thursday that the Lady Gudny experienced fuel filter issues at sea. At approximately 7:30 a.m. Thursday the Lady Gudny became dead in the water 230 miles east of Kodiak after it exhausted their supply of fuel filters and were unable to run the engine. The 17th Coast Guard District directed the launch of the Coast Guard Cutters Hickory and Douglas Munro, and diverted the Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley to respond and provide assistance to the SPAR. The tug vessels Chahunta and Anna-T are also responding to assist. Weather on scene was reported as 20 to 22-foot seas with 49-mph winds and 9 miles visibility. Link 07:34
Coast Guard Cutter Albacore assists disabled fishing vessel off Monomoy
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Southeastern New England notified the 1st Coast Guard District Command Center late Thursday afternoon stating a 41-foot commercial fishing vessel, Angel Fish, was disabled with three people aboard. Angel Fish was reported to be disabled due to a main diesel engine failure. Unable to hail any vessels in the area to assist, the Coast Guard Cutter Albacore was diverted from patrol to help. Coast Guard rescues disabled fishing vessel 115 miles east of Glouceser
Rescue crews from the Coast Guard Cutter Legare are towing the 61-foot fishing vessel Angela Michelle to land today after their anchor line became wrapped around their rudder and propeller about 115 miles east of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Read the rest here 12:30
