Contessi Launches Fresher Trawler for Rawson
The Contessi shipyard in Mar del Plata launched at the beginning of August a new coastal fresher trawler built to fish from the port of Rawson for Argentine red shrimp. Nuevo Anave is the latest of a proven series of boats, with 17 trawlers of the same design already operating along the coast of Argentina. ‘This is a classic design by our shipyard. When we look at the landings of Argentine red shrimp over the last year, we see four of this design of trawler among the top five catchers on the list,’ said yard director Domingo Contessi. Raúl Matías Cereseto one of the owners of fishing vessel Nuevo Anave, confirmed that it was precisely for this reason that he and his associate decided to order a boat of this design. There are around ten boats of that pattern operating in Rawson and we already knew that it had great efficiency. Canada’s next-generation RADARSAT satellite constellation successfully launched
Canada’s RADARSAT Constellation Mission (RCM) was launched successfully into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.The constellation of three satellites will provide daily images of Canada’s vast territory and maritime approaches, as well as images of the Arctic, up to four times a day. It will have daily access to 90 percent of the world’s surface. The RCM is also equipped with an Automatic Identification System (AIS), allowing improved detection and tracking of ships, including those conducting illegal fishing. >click to read<18:19
A new lobster boat gets launched in Rockport Harbor and the town cheers
The Cummins inboard engine rumbled to life like a charm Saturday afternoon, June 10, and Rockport fisherman Kenny Dodge gave a slight smile and nod. Inside, though, you knew he was grinning big. He stood on the deck of his new 47-foot lobster boat, the Hemingway, reached through the window for the wheel, and reversed the vessel into the Goose River Channel. It was a boat launching of magnificent proportions for a town that prides itself on supporting its working waterfront.,, The day culminated five years in the making: Dodge had worked through past winters building the Hemingway in his West Rockport boat barn. First Electric Commercial Fishing Vessel Launched
The world’s first electric commercial fishing vessel is ready for commissioning in Norway. A Corvus lithium polymer Energy Storage System (ESS) with 30 batteries has been integrated with a Siemens propulsion system to power the 11 meter vessel built by Selfa Arctic AS in Norway. The fishing boat, designed to operate entirely on battery power over a planned ten hour working day, can be charged overnight by plugging into the electrical grid and has an emergency 50kW auxiliary diesel-electric generator.
