Pete Speeches sees himself as a competitive guy, competing against the unpredictability of nature every time he sets foot on his boat. So when Speeches and his daughter Erin signed up to be featured on the new season of the popular tuna-fishing reality show “Wicked Tuna,” he wasn’t looking to just get his face on TV or for a career in acting. In Court: ‘Wicked Tuna’ star pleads guilty to fraud

A man featured on the reality television show “Wicked Tuna” pleaded guilty Wednesday to federal charges in Vermont he received government disability benefits while he was fishing on the show. Paul Hebert, 50, of Gloucester, Massachusetts, entered the pleas in U.S. District Court in Burlington to charges of Social Security and Medicaid fraud. Hebert was charged last summer with accepting more than $44,000 in Social Security and Medicaid disability benefits between 2010 and 2013. As part of a plea agreement with prosecutors, Hebert agreed to pay more than $53,600 in restitution. Attorneys are recommending probation for four years. Sentencing is set for May. ‘Wicked Tuna’ star Paul Hebert agrees to plead guilty, sentencing deal would keep him out of jail

Wicked Tuna” cast member Paul Hebert, facing federal charges in Vermont that he illegally collected more than $44,000 in Social Security, disability and Medicaid payments for two years, is looking to make a deal that could keep him out of jail. outer banks captains wickedThe four local captains who starred in ‘Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks’ will be on hand at the Outer Banks Seafood Festival on Saturday, Oct. 17. Joining the event will be Britt Shackelford of the Doghouse; Greg Mayer, Fishin’ Frenzy; Charlie Griffin, Reels of Fortune; and Captain Tami Gray, Reel Deal. A captain’s tent will be located close to the Outer Banks Catch tent, which is one of the larger main attraction tents at the festival. Organizers are planning for two separate autograph signing sessions, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Additionally, Captains Griffin and Gray will be participating throughout the day in activities within the Outer Banks Catch tent. Former Wicked Tuna Fisherman Adam Moser dies from suspected drug over dose.

Adam James Moser, age 27, of Portsmouth, N.H. passed away September 19, 2015, from an apparent overdosepinwheels adam moser. He was raised in East Kingston, N.H., born on January 23, 1988 in Manchester, N.H., son of James and Jeanne (St. Pierre) Moser. Adam graduated Exeter High School in 2006 and Temple University in 2011 with a major in actuarial science. He was most recently employed by P.J. ‘Wicked Tuna’ fisherman Paul Hebert pleads not guilty to fraud

A Gloucester fisherman featured on the reality show “Wicked Tuna” pleaded not guilty Monday in Vermont to federal fraud charges that he collected government benefits while claiming to be disabled. Prosecutors say while Hebert was seen manning big fishing rods and harpooning huge fish on the National Geographic Channel reality show, he was at the same time claiming he was unable to work, with no income, no vehicle and no assets. ‘Wicked Tuna’ star indicted on federal fraud charges, due in court on Aug. 10

A star of TV’s “Wicked Tuna” has been indicted on federal fraud charges. The indictment says Paul Hebert claimed to be disabled and unable to work while he was catching fish and appearing on the National Geographic Channel reality show. The four-count indictment against the 50-year-old from Gloucester, Massachusetts, was filed Friday in U.S. District Court in Burlington, Vermont. It alleges that Hebert accepted a little more than $44,000 in Social Security and Medicaid benefits between 2010 and 2013. A spokesman for the reality TV show explained: “The fifth season of ‘Wicked Tuna’ will be in production during the Bluefin Blowout this year and, though the show has highlighted the tournament in prior years, we are focusing on the competition between our featured boats for the new season. “Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks”. New Name, Same Game, with new twist!

Tami Gray captains the Reel Action on ‘Wicked Tuna’This season comes with a new title that has a distinctly local flavor. The name has been changed from Wicked Tuna: North vs. South, to Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks. And it comes with new twist. One of the local boats—the Reel Action—features the show’s first female crew. Being one of the few female captains out there is something Captain Tami Gray has gotten used to, having worked in this male-dominated industry for most of her life. This year, David Carraro and his first mate, Sandro Maniaci, from the National Geographic Channel program “ Wicked Tuna” are expected to help attract attendees to the 2015 Maine Fishermen’s Forum in Rockport. The three-day event at The Samoset Resort in Rockport is scheduled to start about 8 a.m. Thursday morning and last through Saturday evening. SW Boatworks builds big boat for big-time tuna hunter, by Stephen Rappaport

This spring, he will move his operations to a new Calvin Beal 44 that will have the same name, but is a much larger boat. The new boat is 44 feet long and has a beam of 17 feet 6 inches — 16 feet 2 inches at the transom — and will weigh close to 35,000 pounds ready to go. The Duffy, now sold, was 38 feet 6 inches long — 35 feet on the waterline — with a beam of 14 feet and a displacement closer to 28,000 pounds — all big differences at sea. Read the rest here 17:59

‘Wicked Tuna’ boat rescues 2 as Miss Sambvca sinks

Tyler McLaughlinDennis Bonazzoli was pretty sure he was about to die. Bonazzoli was standing on the roof of the rapidly sinking Miss Sambvca in numbingly cold and churning water off the southern edge of Jeffreys Ledge on the night of Oct. 19. The water temperature was 58 degrees. The air temperature was 38 degrees and seas were running at a hard 10 to 12 feet. And if it weren’t for the courageous and selfless acts of Capt.
